I have been taking elmiron for about 6 weeks and over the past one week I have been having a constant headache. I don't know if it is from the elmiron or if my hay fever is kicking in.

I have only been taking it for a week and the stomach problems were really bad, so I take it out of the capsule and put it in a gelatine capsule (thank you emilyrose and Katrina for that great suggestion), I will say that I have had a low grade headache all day today, but I'm just going to try to push through it. I have read that headaches can be a side effect but maybe just try some motrin/tylenol/advil/aleve??? As you have been taking it for a while now, have you noticed you feel better? What symptoms were you having and what, if any, are getting better?

I had a headache every day from this medication. I became so sick everytime I tried to take it. I seem to live on ginger pills and compazine, yet this also give me a headache and I become very dizzy. Elmiron maybe a wonder drug for some but there are others out there that just can not take it. It blows me away that others can take all of these meds and have no side effect from them. They have test done and no pain. --If you had no problems taking it for the last 5 weeks then it may not be the drug. I hear great things about this and others have been so blessed to have it help them. Don't give up on it until you talk to your doctor. I hope you are one of the lucky ones and fine great relief from this medication. Hang in there it will get better.

Well, I thought I was doing better about a week ago but now the urgency is horrible again. I hear it takes 6 months or more though for some to feel better on the elmiron I have mainly urgency and frequency. Always feel like I have to pee. I also have vulvodynia. Strange thing is I was doing okay for 4 years or so on no meds at all and then all of a sudden everythin hit me again. I was diagnosed 23 years ago with vulvodynia and about 15 years ago with IC. I am taking calcium citrate, NAG glucosamine (through Dr. Solomons), Elmiron, just started Detrol, and ordered some CystoProtek and waiting for it to come in the mail. I feel like all I do is take pills.

Beccasark, what do you take then, as I'm noticing a lot of stomach upset with elmiron even without the capsule. I'm getting a bit freaked out thinking I'm not going to be able to take one of the main meds to help the condition.

Holly- I took Elmiron for three months and then one day it started giving me bad headaches! They are so bad that I have to go to the hospital and get IV painkillers to get rid of them. I no longer take it even though it helped my bladder. I even got headaches when I tried rescue instills directly into my bladder.

I guess I never really considered that my headaches that started a week ago could be related to the Elmiron that I started 2 months ago. I was really thinking that my headache was related to my fibromyalgia. I hope so much it gets better because I do not want to give up the Elmiron at this point.

I hope you don't have to give it up. Mine just got so severe I couldn't open my eyes and I was throwing up, etc.
