bladder size

hi everyone! i went in for my first cystoscopy the other day and my doctor said that my bladder only holds about 18 oz at capacity. a normal bladder should hold around 32 oz. has anyone else been told this? i was just curious if this was an IC thing, or if it was just me.

thats pretty big - 18 oz! I'd kill for a bladder that held that much! :) Mine holds less than 4 oz and the most under hydro they can get me to is 500 ml but then I immediately shrink back down to about and it keeps shrinking from there. Most days I'm in the bathroom every 10-20 minutes, depends on how much I drink each day. Exhausting to say the least...

20cc here.No sleep,no going out and wearing the floor out running back and forth to potty. Finally had a supra purbic cath done. Slept almost 14hrs post op. Went shopping.To the movies. Even drove to Fla. Rescue instillations are a snap. I carry the meds with me where ever I go. Very happy with it.

If your cysto was done under anesthesia, that's pretty small capacity, but if you were awake, it's pretty close to average.

Normal, healthy bladder capacity when awake is about 500 cc (approximately one pint); under anesthesia that would double or slightly more.

You should be happy your bladder can hold that much under anesthesia. My capcity under anesthesia is 400cc. It is roughly about a cup(8oz). My bladder is only one third the size of a normal bladder should be. So Yeah for you in that aspect !!!
