Are UTIs Common with IC?

I think I have a UTI. The urologist thought so too but I'm awaiting the culture results. I just took an at-home test and it was postive for UTI. My question is, is this common for people with IC? I thought it was not. I thought it felt like a UTI but test results are usually negative. I'm worried. Thanks for your help.

I don't know if it is common or not,but I had severeal uti's and kidney infection over this past year.

i started getting uti's last fall when i started having sex again. (after years of living in a desert!) (sex-wise, that is)

my gyno sent me to a urologist and they both think i have i.c. - - - even tho the cystoscopy said my bladder was 'normal'.

gyno started me on vagifem inserts, uro started me on vesicare. i still get uti's and 'flares' (esp. after sex)

I never had a UTI until a few years after I was diagnosed and then I think it was due to being catheterized at the dr.'s office

when I was first diagnosed 2 years ago, I would get a UTI every 2-3 months. After a year on elmiron and other meds, it started to subside. Knock on wood,I haven't had one for well over a year... liz

Is it common to have "urine leakage...incontinence" with a UTI? I have burning, urgency, frequency, and leakage. I'm patiently awaiting the 48 hour urine culture results....Thanks for your help.
