Urgency and Frequency..HELP!

My main symptoms of IC are urgency and frequency, can anyone tell me what they found helpful?

Hi Lally,
I was diagnosed about 2 months ago, my most difficulty is
urgency and frequency... I can only tell you what has helped me.
Taking my meds & staying on the diet. I'm much better I have bad days
from time to time, mostly good ones. Good luck to you. I know exactly what your going through.

Hi,
My Doctor has me on urocit-k its potassium citrate I'm to try this for 3
months. If this is not helping she will add another pill...
I have forgotten the name of that one.
Actually she said that I could be taking up to 4 pills.
I also am taking prelief 2 before meals. This is helping me...

Have you tried pyridium? That helped me with U&F. Also...are you on Elmiron? The Elmiron took about 6 months to kick in but that will help too. I was also taking Atarax.

Camomile tea helps calm to bladder, so that might work also.

I was having this as well. I would think they were UTI's and the dr. told me they were bladder spasms but they felt just like a UTI if not worse. Thankfully the Elmiron has helped with these. I used to get them all the time. I hope you can find something that will help you. I know how painful it is.

I saw a URo for the first time on Tues.. he doesnt think I have IC.. although I do.. He has me down for OAB... he thinks I have more healing to do since my hysterectomy .. had it in Nov.. they used alot of grafting to put my bladder back in place.. they used plastic and also pig skin .. ugh .. anyway, he thinks my body isnt used to the stuff they used to hold everything up .. Idont know.. ?? He gave me a prescription for Detrol LA... I started it Tues .. night I take one along with amitriptiline every night .. Wed.. Thurs and Fri.. I felt better .. yesterday I was running all day long to the bathroom .. today its a little better than yesterday .. anyone else trying this stuff??

Hi Chatypaty,

I have been diagnosed with IC and have tried both amitriptyline and detrol....do you not find that the both of them together give you a really dry mouth?? I was on detrol for about 3 mnths and didnt think it made much difference to my symptoms, ...amitriptyline is quite good as a muscle relaxant and decreases nocturia. Let me know how you get on?
