I have been on treatments i.e Ditropan and Detrusitol which supposedly are for an overactive bladder but I have been diagnosed with IC and apparently they have oversensitive bladders? Anyone know any more about this?
I have a diagnosis of IC and take Detrol LA. I have tried to stop taking it several times, but always feel that flarish feeling come back on so I know it's one I'll be taking for a long time. I don't know if I also have OAB or if it just helps calm spasming from IC. Just know I need it! :)

Hi .. you said you were on Detrol LA for over active bladder . they just put me on that and amitriptiline .. as of this past Tues.. did the detrol help right off the bat ?? I am still going to the bathroom at least 15-20 times a day ??
I remember checking the DETROL website and it saying it could take 4-6 weeks (or something like that) for you to really notice a difference. They said your system had been set-up to go so often that it takes time for it to be "re-programmed", in a sense.
Detrol was the first med my uro put my on - and it helped a tiny bit. Not enough so we added more meds each month. I really have found I need a combination of meds - and most of us do.
Even though Detrol LA only helped a tiny bit - it's enough that each time I try to stop (even as recently as 2 weeks ago) I can feel twinges come back and feel my bladder getting a little irritated. It had been awhile since I'd tried to stop - but even now that I feel so good it's apparently a med I'll continue to need.

Thanks to Vm for the info.. my URo gave me I think 5 refills on the Detrol LA
I was hoping it would help much sooner .. but hey, at least maybe I can look forward to feeling better in the coming months.. I will continue with it and the amiltriptiline also.. for pain.. I do know that since I started with that I can wear my regular jeans with no tummy pain .. I hope u have lots of good days ahead.. thanks again .
