Lara wanted me to give everyone an update. She thanks you all for your continued help and support and wishes she had the strength to sit at the computer herself, but she does not. She is still bedridden with pain and infection after infection.
Lara had her bladder and urethra removed 70 days ago. She has urinary diversion with an interior/Indiana pouch. She was hoping the procedure would eliminate the pain. It has not. It hovers at a 9 out of 10. It is not surgical pain and it is not phantom pain. It is IC pain in and around the entire abdominal area.
The only difference is that she doesn't have to go to that bathroom every five seconds. She feels like she has to, but reminds herself that she does not have a bladder or urethra anymore. She is happy for those of you who had the surgery and the pain left, but very very frustrated that hers is still there and she was robbed of treatments/options she could have tried.
As a reminder, Lara didn't elect to have her bladder removed. It was ruptured during a routine cystoscopy by a very bad doctor and she had no choice. She was saved by great Dr. Raz in Los Angeles.
Thnaks for all your continued good wishes,
Carlos, Lara's Fiance
