I think you just answered your own question. I'm sure he rx'd the med anticipating mood swings....menopause from surgery is much more dramatic than it is when it happens naturally...Take the meds he ordered for you....

If you want to get off any anti depressant, you really need to wean your self off of it. I got lucky with everything but the Effexor XR, I was able to just stop taking them...however I either felt lightheaded or just imbalanced for a few days, the Effexor Xr thankfully the doc said to wean myself off of it, I took a pill every other day for a week, lord I had the WORST pounding headache for like 3 days when I 1st weaned off of it...it was BAD...but after that I was okay.
Are you able to take calcium? I take that for my restless leg syndrome @ night. It works wonderful as a natural muscle relaxer, helps with PMS & menstrual cramps too.

That is awesome!!! The calcium helps calm me down I can literally feel my muscles relax within 5-10 minutes of my taking it whenever I take it. You might wanna try St John's Wort (can't take it if you're using birth control or HRT though unless under the advisement of a doctor & I'd still be leary of that!) instead of the prescription anti depressants...I was taking it until I started back on the bc pill a few weeks ago. It helped me tremendously...matter of fact my husband is taking it & it helps him deal with being away from home so much (he's a OTR-over the road truck driver), he's more positive now about working than he was before he started taking it. Again be careful & do your homework, make sure it's pure & raw to the form, most of the products in retail stores, GNC, & vitamin/health food stores (despite what they tell you!!) have additives in them & or have a little amount of the actual vitamin or herb in it.
