Has anyone tried Bentonite?

My mom said she used this all natural clay called Bentonite to seal the leaks in her fish pond. I got to thinking about it and thought if it's all natural and it seals stuff maybe it would help with IC, so I looked up Bentonite online. Apparently this stuff is used for alot of things from a water sealer to cat litter, but people do drink it and it is supposed to cure allergies, anemia, baldness, all kinds of things. It is a clay but it absorbs free radicals and toxins from your body. It even removes pesticides people consume with their food. It isn't digested by your body so it just takes all the bad stuff out. You can also use it in your bath water to remove toxins from your skin. It absorbs extra stomach acid and is supposed to be good for IBS and is generally used as an intestinal cleaner and detoxifier. It is very reasonable in price so I ordered it. Since I can't afford the Elmiron, I will try the Bentonite, it can't hurt. I will let you all know how it works, I should get it in the mail in a day or two. If anyone has tried this, please let me know, ASAP, thanks.

I'm always extremely doubtful about any substance that is supposed to be a cure-all. Be sure to discuss it with your doctor before swallowing any.

I tend not to swallow ingredients that are normally used in cat litter and home improvement projects.

I am all for alternative healing, and my acupuncturist acutally suggested this to me...but I declined....I was already doing very well on my other alternative healing regime and also was a bit hesitant to try something "else", where I am doing so well.

I am also one who does a lot of research on alternative means of healing, and before taking anything, I always would make sure that what I was taking was safe, and had no side effects ...etc.

So just make sure you do your research, refer yourself to a naturalpath and ask her opinion, or even go into a naturalpath store and ask to speak with the naturalpath to get her opinion. Check and do an indepth google search (some sites of course are not as reputable as others), just do your homework before taking it.
