Sounds as if many of us have seen multiple doctors over the years only to go misdiagnosed, diagnosed, treated, not treated adequately, etc.
So here is a new question:
Do you feel that your current physician is managing your symptoms adequately? That is to say that your current treatment regimine is working for you at least most of the time (as we all have our bad days!!!)
I am curious to see what the responses will be! :hmm:

Yes I feel my currents doctors manage my case VERY well. In fact, I think I have the most awesome doctors in the world. And I have 3 that are that way! How did I get sooo lucky?? I have an awesome pain doctor - he truly cares about me and believes that IC is very painful. He makes me feel like I am the amazing one, not like he is god's gift to the earth. ANd then I have a really cool pain therapist. She only sees women w/chronic pain conditions and she has helped me to deal with this disease. She is a rare gem.
Then my favorite or favorites is my ob/gyn. She is the overall director of my health. We call her the captain of the whole ship! LOL. We talk at least once a week and she has gone to bat for me too many times to count. She is truly an angel. She has called in to ER's on the weekend for me, given me pain shots at 5 pm on Christmas eve, called in pain pills on Sunday, etc. She is just the coolest, most loving doctor I have ever heard of. And I am not the only one who says that, my pain therapist said she has NEVER heard so many good things about a doctor.
So that is my story. Oh yeah, I have Kaiser.

I am not content with my current treatment. I have not been diagnosed with IC, and the treatment from the urologist I have seen is not sufficient. I don't feel like it is a correct diagnosis (she says I have a narrow urethra, and that is the cause of all my symptoms). The only options she gave me were to increase my Elavil dosage or have a urethral dilation performed. I am very hesitant about the urethral dilation after hearing about it on this board.
I am seeing another urologist in July who treats IC patients. We will see how that goes.

Lisa-
I hope your new appt works out well. I do understand reservations about certain procedures after learning about some of the problems they have caused for people. That is precisely why when my doctor brought up the Interstim conversation again, I gave him a firm "NO!".
Sarah- girl where do you live? Please say you are in Tennessee!!!
I really do love my doctor. He has been my GYN for almost 17 years. Unfortunately I think that my IC is much worse than he is used to dealing with and he is ready to refer me to someone else. While I have anxiety about going to someone new, maybe they would have more aggressive ideas on treatment.
