Hi everyone.
I haven't been on the boards in a while because I felt so good. But I have a question and wonder if someone out there can help me.
I was on Ditropan for about two months and it really worked for me. I had samples from my doctor. Then my insurance decided not to cover Ditropan. My doctor tried to get it covered for me, but it didn't work.
Anyhow, I was switched to Vesicare. It's been about two weeks. I am leaking a lot. I don't have any pain/urgency/frequency, but the leaking is making me miserable.
Does anyone know if Vesicare could possibly start to work? Ditropan took about one month before it really started to work. I really don't know what to do at this point.
I start a new job in one week and am so worried about this. I'm curious if anyone has had success treating leakage problems with Vesicare.
Thanks so much,
Jennifer

What is the dosage of Vesicare that you are taking?
My doctor started me out on 5mg. It worked for awhile but then my leakage came back. He has upped me to 10mg and the leakage got better better temporarily but has not completely gone. I am still wearing panty liners most days.
Call your doctor and explain this to him/her. You may just not be on an adequate dose.

Hi.
Thanks for your message. I am on 5 mg of Vesicare. I see my doctor Thursday. I'll most likely ask for a higher dose.
My insurance will change in September, so I hope to restart Ditropan at that time. It was so much better!
I wear liners, also, every day. I've worn them every day since August of last year. It's very annoying and bothersome.
Thanks,
Jennifer

It is annoying......I sooooooo feel your pain!!
I haven't every tried Ditropan, so I don't have the experience there. I haven't had any problems on Vesicare, only that it seems to work well for awhile and then it doesn't, so my doctor increases my dosage.
Unfortunately my IC has been very hard to treat and I have severe pelvic floor dysfunction so it seems as if everything is working against me!
Good luck with your doctor appt!

I'm taking 5mg vesicare, but not for leakage. It might have a mild effect on my IC, but not enough to really feel like IC is not there. Does anyone get side effects from it? I'm tired anyway, so hard to tell and I don't sleep well. I still feel bad if I drink too much tea or coffee. My capacity hasn't increased very much if at all. I've taken it vesicare for about a month. See article in alternative section about St. Johns wort. I may switch to that after I stop vesicare and misoprostol which have been disappointing so far. They may have done something a little, but I'm just not sure. I'll give them a few more weeks and then compare to St. Johns wort I guess. PV

I cannot take St John's Wort with my Lexapro.
Regarding side effects, I get some constipation from it but I think that I also get it from some of my other meds too.

I have been on vesicare for about 8 month now. The only thing is that I will get spasms (painful) so I have to also take Ditropan.

Since I have been on Vesicare I take 10 mg. That's the max you can take. I also take Ditropan because I will still get spasms sometimes, painful one's and I would have to miss work. I just started Ditropan today so we'll see how it works.

I tried ditropan, but it caused rentention. But I am pretty sure if Ditropan is one of the $4 dollar prescriptions you can get at walmart. Hope this helps.:)
