Infection?

I was wondering....How would you know if you had a yeast infection? Is there a test for this? Also, I have burning and slight itching and I went to my gyno. and they did a urine test and everything came back normal. If I did have a UTI or yeast infection, would I get a false reading because of my IC? I have a lot of burning, pressure, and frequency. Are these all symptoms of IC? Plus I feel like I have discharge when I sit down but I can not see it on my underwear although my underwear it is damp. I was diagnosed with IC over 5 years ago and now I don't know if these are all symptoms or not. Please help! I'm getting scared. Thanks, Sandy

Thanks, SandyDid your gyn do a pelvic exam and wet mount to test you for yeast that is only way to know if you have a yeast infection. I know when I have one if I had white cottage cheese discharge and alot of burning and stinging in my vaginal area and also itching. I just got over a yeast infection that I got from my surgery. I would go back to the dr. if you are not still feeling well. Good luck.

I get yeast infections all the time. Maybe IC makes me more suseptable. Since I have had so many,I usually know when i have one. the main symptoms are burnign and itching and swelling. I usually dont have a discharge though. Its important that you go back to the doc andask him or her to take a look under the microscope. bacterial vaginosis also has similiar symptoms as a yeast infection, but sometimes there is an oder with it. But thats why you need to get a test so you can see what kind of infection it is. If he did the test and it was negative, it may just be from IC. dont knowif this would work for everyone but boric acid capsles help to prevent an infection. so does probiotic. hope you feel better soon.

If you think you may have a yeast infection, your physician can have a culture done to either diagnose or rule it out.

Thanks to all of you who replied to me. I think my symptoms are from my IC flaring up. I had a pap smear and urine cultures and they were all normal. I took an at home UTI test and Vaginal infection test and they were also normal. So, who knows.....I've been really stressed lately and I think I'm in a bad flare.
I am having burning after urinating. It comes and goes. Also, I feel discharge but don't see any when I wipe. Is it possible that it's urine leakage I feel? I mean my underwear get damp. It could be normal sweating also. This disease makes me crazy at times!!!! Thank:headbang: s again for all the information. It was very helpful. Sandy
