things have been going pretty good for me lately. I have had my IC under control for 6 years, have met many good people (thanks to this site) and have gone back to work. However, last week I found out I need about $5000 worth of dental work done and this is out of pocket on top of insurance. I have always had extreme dental problems but I thought I had gotten things under control. One reason may be the low amount of elavil I take. I am a fanatic about flossing and using the sonic care but doesnt seem to matter. Anyway I am figuring out a way to pay for this and some girl at work says "Boy you do have your problems dont you"? I have already gone through all the "IC putdowns" so I just leered at her. Why are people so stupid? On the other hand, I had a urologist come into the law firm I work at where we do real estate settlements and he was one of the ones who had misdiagnosed me in 1993 and told me I was crazy. I wrote him a letter after I was diagnosed and, basically, told him what I thought of his bedside manner. He remembered me and apologized and said that since then his daughter has come down with IC and now he knows a lot more about it. so you never know what will come around. Anyway, I dont get to come to the site as often because of working but wishing you all a happy summer!!!!!

Teresa,
Goodness hon and I thought I had an outstanding dental bill to pay. I need to go have two of my teeth surgerial removed then a lot about four fillings.

I'm sorry that uro's daughter came down with IC, but glad he now understands more about it. It a very sad that only if he had listen to you. You may had not suffer so.

I'm very proud of you hon. You came a long way. You fought yourself from being bedridden into remission. You suffered but you kept fighting, You got your answers!!

I do hope you can visit the chat room again soon. You give such hope to others fighting for answers with this IC puzzle we all live in.

I do hope and pray somehow, someway you can get your dental work done cheaper.

sending you hugs and prayers.
Rhonda

Teresa, so good to see you!!! :)

I'm sorry you are going to be going through such tough times with your dental work and financial issues, but I AM glad to hear the nasty uro got what was coming to him, in a way. If there's any way I can help, let me know.

Also, are you still designing purses? If so, PM me... ;)

p.s
as far as that co-worker goes just try to avoid her. Sadly one day she may understand more than what she wants. The very same thing may happen to her or a close family member as it did with the uro that mis-dx. you years ago.

That is wonderful that you wrote the letter and that it stuck in his mind enough that he'd remember you. I'm sorry that his daughter has it, but he may be kinder to her b/c of his experience with you.

Hi Mayray,
Just wondering if you got a second opinion on your dental work? Yikes!

I think it's great you gave your uro. that feedback and that he was humble enough to apologize, that is amazing, especially so that he apologized in a law firm!!

Hang in there & congratulations on being back at work! No small achievement with IC!

It's so good to see you again. Thanks for letting us know what has been happening with you. I loved the one about your former uro. Not that I would wish this dreadful disease on anyone, but I am happy that he now has first hand knowledge about IC. It may help him be a better doctor.

Take care of yourself and I wish you the best with the dental issues. :)
