When I was a little girl in the midwest, our family always spent memorial day by first visiting the cemetery where many of my ancestors are buried and decorating their graves. We then went to a central location, usually the home of one of my many aunts, and had a huge family pot luck dinner. I miss the old get-togethers.

memorial day here in indiana is all about the indianapolis 500 race. its tradition here but of course its about remembering our loved ones and those
that fight for our country that gives us freedom and those that died while defending our country. the race in indy is a big deal here. jim nabors sings back home again in indiana every year and florence henderson sings the national anthem although i hear soldiers are going to this year. i have gone to the race many times but not for a few years. its a long day since everyone arrives to get the best position in pit area in front of the stadium and then cook out or bring food and visit with everyone there.i just hopes its a safe race for everyone. anyway thats what goes on this weekend in indiana.

I, too, miss the old get-togethers. The tradition continues in my family though I can't often be a part since moving half way across the country. Still, I like to know they're carrying on back home.

I'd like to say I appreciate the sacrifices of those who have served, and those who now serve in our military.
