Hi,

Just curious of those who have endometriosis as well as IC and take Birth Control pills that do not aggravate their IC ( which ones are they? ). I know we are all individual just trying to get some ideas.

Thanks,
Tracey :)

Hi! I used Nuvaring for quite awhile (following the birth of my youngest) with no symptoms. When I stopped taking it, and my cycles returned with the hormonal swings, IC came back--always right before my period. I went back on Nuvaring a few months ago, hoping the IC will slowly go into remission again. Nuvaring is a low hormone intravaginal method, on of the lowest maybe. I like the convenience, also.:smile tee

More info at www.nuvaring.com

Mirena, and IUD, is low hormone also, I do believe.

good luck!

I am having symptoms around the same time each month and have narrowed it down to a specific hormone level. My new Urogynecologist went over and beyond to look at the uingredients in the one that seems to be cause me issues and has prescribed a new one for me to try. It is called Desogen. I have no idea if it will help or not. i am keeping my fingers crossed I will start taking it in a couple of weeks. I hear a lot of people mention Yasmin and Trilevilin 28. I am currently on Trilevilin 28 and that is what is not working. Hope this helps!

To the above post:

That sounds like me! Maybe I should shop around a bit, and see if anything else works better. I did so well on Nuvaring after my pregnancy, but I was symptom free during. IC symptoms just started before I got pregnant, thanks to an awful UTI(I became pregnant a few short months later, and felt so much better!). For whatever reason, I stopped nuvaring for awhile, and IC started up again. Always it was worse after ovulation to my period. I'm flaring now on Nuvaring still. I am hoping it will go away if I keep plugging away. Anyway, now that I am off the original post, sort of...

Grannyiris,
I definately think we all have to just find what works best for each of us as an individual and hopefully you have a dfoc that is open to that. Your ho9rmone levels are probably different now even after being pregnant. Those things flutuate like crazy! Oh the joy of being a woman!

Thank you ladies so much for the suggestions. And granny we are all aloud to be tired.
Ok maybe i am gonna sound really stupid here...I have never heard of a intravaginal bc? so no pill?

I certainly hope it helps you again real soon.

Amy, please keep me posted on how the desogen is working for you.

I know how period time can be, i am hoping with the endo gone now those days will be a bit easier, we shall see.
The way my Gyn wants me to take the bc is 3 months non-stop than get a period than do it again. i am really not thrilled w/this method but if it's gonna help the endo not grow, i'll try.

Hope everyone is feeling well,
Tracey :)

Tracey5399:

Yeah, it is intravaginal--no pills! It is a low-hormone method, continually releasing hormones at a very low rate. I've had no problems with it staying in--well, almost none! My OB told me I could be on it for 8 weeks continually--I think I'll try that and see if that helps my IC. Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you!

I am 19 years old with severe endometriosis and IC. I use the nuvaring to control my endo and it hasn't bothered my IC.

I had a hyster for my endo last Oct. However, prior to that, I took Alesse. It didnt bother my bladder at all. I have also taken my pills continuously for several months to skip my periods, since I was always in tremendous pain during my periods, due to the endo and then that always set off a flare for the IC. I never had any problems skipping cycles. The only thing with me is that when I did that, I was always wondering if I might be pregnant without knowing. (It wouldnt have been a big deal, as we wanted another child, but I was worried about being on all my meds at conception.) Just a reminder though, if you opt for BC pills, dont forget to ask your dr for any samples packs that they have on hand. That way, if the new meds dont agree with your bladder, at least you wont be out any money. Then, ask if they have any mfg rebate forms for the meds they prescribe to you. (Lots of pharmicutical companies put rebates on meds, especially new ones....never hurts to ask!) Hope this helps, and hope you find a BC method that is IC friendly.

So i am now on my 3rd day of the Loestrin 24, and i am so irritated down there and itchy & burning :headbang:
I am wondering if i keep taking it maybe the symptoms will go away? Ugh maybe that sounds crazy, someone told me once that the body builds up and becomes immune to certain meds. So if i can put up w/the discomfort she was just thinking that maybe i'd get lucky & be able to still take the b/c.
Has anyone ever tried a b/c that irritated you?
This is my 3rd try w different kinds & again i am in a flare. I know there are soooo many b/c's out there, i just can't keep doing this.
I am going to try the suggestions abouve was just wondering if anyone else was/is having the same difficulty.

Thanks,
Tracey
