I have IC and, diagnosed 03/13/06. My biggest and symptom was feeling like "I gotta go" all the time. Not painful but extremely annoying. I had the cysto with hydro and dr said my IC should be mild. I don't have pain. I am now on Elavil and Detrol LA. The Detrol LA has helped me with the "gotta go" feeling. Hope that helps.

Yep. I have IC, according to my cysto/hydro results. I usually only go about
5-7 times per day, but I feel like my bladder is full all the time. It's so annoying! I've also had problems with urethral pain. A lot of us here seem to have "atypical" cases of IC. In fact, I'm starting to think there is NO "typical" case!
I'm planning a second cysto/hydro. The first helped my pain significantly for at least six months. I'm hoping it will help the icky "gotta pee" feeling.

Have you been officially diagnosed with IC?
The best thing to do here is to speak to your doctor -- if you are on any medication it may need adjustment. Also, try the IC Diet if you haven't. It's in our Patient Handbook and there is a link to it at the top of this page.
good luck!!

Wow your frequency is so small. The usual times to go is about 8 times a day. The urgency feeling is very annoying. Talk to your doctor about it, it may be pelvic floor dysfunction or something similar (spasms) & hopefully he can give you something to help. Kathi

can I have your bladder :biglaugh: I guess the best way to describe mild urgency, is that you have to go, but, it you are able to still hold it without pain. pre-interstim when I had to go it was right that very second, and if I even held it a min, I was in horrible pain, to the point I couldn't think get brain freezes, and felt like I was going to black out. now when I have to go, I am looking for a bathroom, if I have to hold it say if I am driving, I can go a mile, before I am dancing in my seat..

Well , I went to the URo today for the first time .. he doesnt seem to think I have IC .. he thinks my problem is due to my surgery I had in Nov.. they used alot of plastic to push my bladder back up when they did the repair and hysterectomy and he thinks I am not completely healed from all of that .. he told me to stay on Amitriptline and put me on Detrol.. also .. he took a urine sample and had the nurses due an ultra sound on me to see if I was retaining any urine after voiding .. which I was not . but I still felt like I had to go.. he said he thinks the detrol will help with that .. he gave me a prescription for Cipro .500 mg .. and a prescription order for lab work if I feel an infection coming on ... I go back in 2 months .. I am hoping he is right . I have to say since I started the amitriptiline .. I havent had the pressure and dull ache in my belly .. even wearing my old jeans today .. so I have been better the past week.. I think I will stick with the IC diet though .. thanks to all who have helped me .. I dont remember all the names on the board.. I do remember Annie .. thank u all .. I will stay in touch .. and follow thru .. so no
cystiscope now.. thank goodness.. love and prayer to all of you ..
