View Full Version : uretheral pain
hey everyone long time no speak!!
Well i guess thats just because i've been busy gettin better!! Since i last posted on here I have come to understand and learn what i have now....I've just recently come back from seeing a specialist in adelaide who is treating me with my chronic vulvodynia..turns out all of my bladder, urethral, burning pain, and pain during sex is all related to my vulvodynia....since then i've been getting treated with various types of excercises to help me....and over the treatment period almost all of my symptoms have decreased in fact almost gone....Turns out that vulvodynia is curable as new researchers have found out however there are only a few selected specialists throughout the world that came an cure 95% of there patients.....I've never been more happy in my life i cant wait to go back to being normal again...if anyone wants to know the name of the specialist im seeing plz feel free to send me a message and i will give u the details...Anyways thought it might help to inform others out there that in my case i had alot of burning pain in my urethera and this was due to my muscles being so over active and hypertonic, putting pressure on almost every single muscle in my pelvic area especially my bladder and urethera..since then i have been donig muscle stretches in the area and biofeedback which had pretty much cleared my symptoms so far and is said to be i will be cured around late september....
So im saying this because a lot of my symptoms were like those who have IC, and i went thought every IC test almost 4 times over with each, with no prevail..... When all along turns out i had chronic vulvodynia..and turns out i have primary vulvodynia which ive had all my life.....So if others are in a situation like mine i would erge you to look into the possibility of vulvodynia....
hope this helps luv karis xoxox:grouphug: :flower:

Dear kazi,
I have had almost constant burning stinging sesations in my urethra since I went to the hospital in Oct. 05' after having sex in some hot springs, I went to the hospital peeing blood, then by november had no infection or bacteria which remains to this day, i had my urethra dialated three times, now I am seeing a physical therapist that is starting biofeedback and stretching the muscles around my urethra through my vagina, any more suggestions, I just took the vuvodynia quiz, but I have to get my life back and get rid of this pain, it has now been over 8 months, help!

I have urethral burning, but I also have burning in the clitoris. Is that a symptom of IC or is it vulvodynia? After my probe ultrasound of my pelvic, I will be seeing the gyno for followup on my cysts, but thought about the clitoris having burning and need to bring up that but didn't know if it is a uro or gyno topic.
Thanks.

I had been checked for vulvodynia in June 2007 by a women gyno. She said I did not look swollen or irritated at all. She did a pap and swabs and gave me Premarin which didn't help. I had thought my urethra was having all the burning, but when I checked the area because the uro gave me urojet which I have never used before, I wondered if the other area was the problem and not IC.

The uro gave me urojet on Friday and said if I couldn't insert it, then I probably wouldn't be able to do home instills. So, I am not in the habit of looking at myself, but had to take a mirror to see exactly where the pee comes out of. The urethra opening is farther down than where I thought it would be. I get the burning most of the times on the sides of the labias and the base of the clitoris. I have already asked and been checked for vulvodynia from one gyno in June. I am seeing another one and will ask him about the burning. When I go back to the uro, I will also bring up the burning area again. It makes me mad because I was just at the uro's Friday.

The area of the burning is the clitoris and sometimes the vagina/labia. When I had a cystoscopy in the office and after being cathed, I don't get the burning at the site of the urethra, I get the burning farther up near the clitoris. So it is difficult to determine if it is the IC or VV.
I haven't had sex for awhile and no way can I be touched. I also have some burning in the vagina upon any sex.

hi hope u had a good xmas. i went bk to my doctor on friay to be asked to be sent bk to my speacialiist well a diffrent one becasue once my old speaciast had done a ureatha dilation and it didnt work he said there was noting eles he could do for me :( he didnt want to investigate further. my doctor said they looked in my bladder with a camera and coudlent find anything and he said ic would have shown up but to be honest i dont think they looked for ic because it never said on the report my doctor just presumed they did. well im goin bk to a diffent speacilsit now just got to wait on a letter from them for an appointment.when they testsed my wee they found white blood cells in it but no infection which is a sign of ic its really stressing me out :( i get the burning around the ureatha and a little bit of the area below that the vulva i think its starnge though because it doesnt always burn when i wee the most it burns is my first wee in the morning but sumtimes that doesnt even burn i just want to no if its ic or vulvadoynia because it said on this website vulvadoynia causes ureatha burnign and around that area i cant wear tanmpons burns to much even when my bf touches me down there it burns and sex burns as well its alwful :( xx

I know I keep posting this! My IC has progressed to different stages of the last 18 months since it started. It first felt like a raging UTI, then that calmed down, then turned into a nasty case of Vulvar Vestibulitis. After several months of injections of Traumeel and using chromolyn cream (a steriod cream), my VV has completely healed. I am now left with constant urethral pain and pain in my left hip joint. All of my pain is on the left side. So now my doctor thinks it has turned into pudendel nerve entrapment. I am going to be getting some steriod shots through the vagina wall into the tight muscle group on Jan 18th to see if it helps. If I get any relief from that, then she will progress to using botox injections for a longer term relief. I have been seeing a chiropractor as well. If the only thing you have wrong with you is urethral pain, there could be a very good chance you are dealing with PNE. It's hard to explain, but the pudendel nerve has 4 branches - one goes down the leg, one into your lower back, and the other two to your urethral area and clitoral area. He was able to do a few simple tests to check my legs and back. There is currently no known test to check the nerves that run into the pelvis system. I have been through just about every test possible and nothing ever comes up positive. There is no medical reason that can be found for my urethral pain. So we are left trying to treat it as PNE. Just thought I would pass along the info. It might be something you could check out for yourselves. Hope this helps someone. I will post after my shots and let you know if it works. Have a good day.

I feel I am just a sad sack and no doctor knows what to do with me. Anyway, to be diagnosed for IC, you need to undergo a cystoscopy with a bladder stretching at the hospital under anesthesia. Your bladder will be stretched as far as possible then a camera is viewed to see any pinpoint blood vessals (bleeding in the bladder wall). If you only had the camera done in the doctor's office, the bladder won't be stretched enough to actually see the IC bladder.
Well, Happy New Year to everyone. I hope to have a better year and for all of you too. I doubt it though on my end with this nasty IC.

I have a burning urethra, and itching sometimes. It always pinches when I'm try to go, and have a lot of hesitancy, but I do not have pain with sex. My frequency shoots through the roof after sex though. My urethra usually burns before a bad flare. My symptoms move around.

When I have had infections or get an instills, my urethra doesn't burn, it is the area between the urethra and clitoris. Anyone have this area of burning? I don't know if it is the IC or VV causing this pain.

What is BV? I am still having a lot of vulva pain today and many days past. Gosh, being pregnant is possibly worse since you have to watch what you take.
