I have been taking Ultram for about 3 months now, and it was working real well for me, it took away the constant gotta go feeling. I also have been experiencing a increase in heartburn, and acid reflux, I am popping Prilosec like they are candy. I didn't realize until a few days ago that my acid reflux might be comming from the Ultram. I put a call into my uro's office, and told him my symptoms, and he too seems to think that my reflux is comming from the Ultram. I am soooo upset and depressed, everytime I find something to help my IC, it causes something else to go wrong, I cant win for loosing. I don't know how much more I can take, I just can't seem to get on the right track. I won't do any rescue instills because I had a bad reaction to Heparin a couple months back, and I swore I would never do another one again. I tell myself each and everyday, that I am not going to let IC rule my life, and I am going to beat this thing, or die trying, but I am not having very good luck. I just don't know where to turn now, I have so many side effects from medications, there is not a whole lot I can take, I guess I will have to keep trying to find something that works for me. I just can't stand living with IC anymore. Thanks for listening to me whine.

I'm so sorry. Can you go in and have a good discussion with your doctor about this? There are other pain relievers out there that might be easier on the tummy... maybe he knows of one that can help you.

Sorry hon!!!!! :grouphug:
Talk to your doctor about switching to a different pain med, or get a referral to a pain clinic!
I had the SAME reaction to Elmiron! Everytime I would get about 2-3 weeks into taking it I would get AWFUL heartburn and have to stop for a week or two........start again, same cycle! :( And yeah......it bums me out!
Hang in there, sweetie!

Thanks guys for being there for me. I did talk to my doctor, and we are going to try something else.

I get extremely nauseated from pain medications, including ultram. My doctor solved the problem for me by prescribing an anti-emetic (phenergan 25mg), which I take with the ultram. It does make me a little sleepy, but it seems to work.

I get depressed some times. I think when is going to end. My husband understands what a struggle this is for me But my mom on the other hand blames me for this. She like theres also something wrong with you. And like I also says I can't control these. like always it never helps. So I decided to stop telling her things. And I seeing a cousling. so its all cool.

My doc moved me from Ultram to Ultracet. I was really upset at first about it because the Ultram was non drowsey and the Ultracet was. However, it does work for me and have not had any problems with it.
