I use Marie's lite creamy ranch without problems. I don't use much though & usually take Prelief with it. (It's a dietary supplement available at Walgreens, reduces acid in food.)

You can also mix pear juice with olive or canola oil & a little basil. This is good on baby greens or spinach. Just be careful to get a pear juice without citric or ascorbic acid in it.

I used to put cottage cheese on my salads - it wasn't half bad. :)

I don't seem to have a problem with sweeter dressings - such as sesame.

I've found that I have to avoid canola oils and try to stick with olive oil. Also, and this may be weird--but I avoid all foods with corn as the base. I did find a olive oil dressing (one of the main ones but I can't remember the name at the moment) and that worked pretty good. Let me know if you find anything really good. Oh, be careful of soy as an additive.

I just use very high quality "Fruity," tasting olive oil.

I do the same as Scott. Extra Virgin Cold pressed Olive Oil not only tastes good but it is reported to be mildly anti-inflammatory too. Sometimes I also sprinkle powdered kelp on top of my salad w/olive oil too.

In the beginning I could use only olive oil but I put lots of stuff in the salad to give it flavor, like feta cheese and black olives (not ones that have any vinegar in them).
I have found that I can eat sour cream (DAISY is the only one I've found made from just cream and no preservatives like carogeenan.) My mom used to use sour cream as a dressing for our salads in the summer and it was delicously fresh tasting. The problem with most store-bought dressings, ranch included, is that they have vinegar or citrus acid in them. You can get the taste of lemon from grated lemon zest. The oil in it has lots of flavor. And you can try making your own mayo...the recipe is in Bev Laumann's cookbook "A Taste of the Good Life."

I saw on TV the other day that they have salad dressing SPRAYS now. That looks like a good way to get the least amount of dressing possible, but still have the taste. However, there's still acid in it, so be careful!

Hi Black Widow,

Yeah, it's true about the oil, but unfortunately, it seems that most IC acceptable foods are fattening. We can eat cake and cookies (homemade of course) potatoes, and the list goes on. Plus with all the pain it's hard to exercise. If have an IC friend who just grabbed her dr. by the lapels and told him if her butt got any bigger, she'd hold him personal responsible!!!! What can I say? Just use as little olive oil as possible for taste.
