I know that we are all different when it comes to the symptoms of IC but I am really confused about the pain that I am feeling....I have read the IC book and it states that the pain will be right above the pubic bone....where the bladder sits. It also states that the pain will be pretty constant. I am trying to figure out my pain....it isn't always constant and it isn't where my bladder sits....It is more on the sides of my abdomen and high up on the left side.....
I also was wondering if the pain would be accompanied by freq/urgency issues if it was IC related.....
I hope this makes some sense because I am really confused!!!!
Thanks in Advance!

I think that pain does vary for everyone. My pain isn't constant. There are actually a few moments in each day I actually don't hurt, or the pain is very tolerable. This is usually in the early morning to about lunchtime.
The pain I have fluctuated between my bladder and my lower back. Occassionally I will also have pain in one or both of my kidneys.
I hope that helps. I guess the "pubic bone" area they are describing is around your bladder area. But it really is different for everyone. I would ignore that chapter in your book, hahahaha
My pain is above the pubic bone, lower abdomen & it's constant. It hurts to walk. In fact I had a hysterectomy about 30 yrs ago thinking it was my uterus. After surgery healed & I still had the pain I knew I had made a big mistake. At that time I had never heard of IC & it was years later b/4 I was diagnosed.
Are you sure you don't have another problem that might be causing the pain high on the left side? Good luck!

There really is no one set rule for how the pain "should be", it's been said on the boards a few times that IC can cause you to feel pain anywhere from the nipples to the knees... I know for me, it was different all the time. Sometimes definitely in the bladder area, sometimes in my back, sometimes both, sometimes down my thighs - or all of the above, I have never fit into the "text book" definition. Go by how your body feels - and if it's a NEW pain to you, it's best to give your doctor a call - same goes for any new-for-you symptoms. ;)
Hope this helps a bit!! :)

My pain has always been nearly all urethral.
