I have been dealing with mild urinary problems since February. My most bothersome symptom has been weird feelings of pressure AFTER urination that would last up to a couple of hours. And I sometimes get weird cramps in what seems to be the urethra. In fact, all my symptoms seem to be urethra related. Anyway, I took 2 weeks of macrobid (before I had a pulmonary reaction and had to quit it) and have felt quite good (I would even say NORMAL!) for about a week...until last night. All of a sudden, I went to the bathroom and it stung pretty bad during urination and has continued to sting through today. The only thing I can think of is I ate tons of strawberries last night at dinner. I've never noticed that diet affects my symptoms and I went a whole week eating whatever I wanted and had no problems. Is it possible that strawberries could cause the burning? Or should I go get checked for an infection? I just have a feeling that there would be no infection showing, like always!

This is all such a mystery!

Take care,
Jane

Yes, the strawberries COULD have caused it, tomatoes do that to me, anything w/tomato in it. Maybe either a few tums and a cup of water or (this tastes bad but it can help) if you dont have high blood pressure, 1/4 to 1/2 tsp bakingsoda in very cold water, the colder the better, either of those may "put the fire out". My symptoms used to be all urethral, all burning too, not saying it will progress, I believe I had an infection for a good long time before the symptoms just stayed w/me. Hope you are feeling better. You may want to start keeping a journal on what you eat daily and if you start burning. Also if the burning persists, may wanna see your doc to make sure you dont have an infection, that could be a sign. Take care!!! :D
