I have a question and was wondering if anyone else experiences this.
When my IC is bad I wake up from sleep and feel like I am coming out of anesthetic. No matter how hard I try it pulls me back down into sleep.
This goes on repeatedly and can keep me under for as many as 12 hours.
On days I experience this and I have an appointment I can't miss, my family will pull me up. But for hours or all day I walk around in a fog and walk into walls etc. All along feeling like I've been drugged. I also have trouble with peripheral vision when this is going on.
Does anyone else experience this and if so have they ever gotten a diagnoses for why this happens?

Are you taking any medication for IC or something else?
Elavil made me feel that way, I had to stop it...

Elavil will do this to you. If you are not on any medication you really need to see a doctor. I have never heard of this in connection with IC.

Regardless of whether you are on any medication, you really need to see your doctor. If it's from medications, you may need some changes --- if not, you absolutely need to find out what's going on. Grogginess is not a symptom of interstitial cystitis.

No it is not from my medications. Before I ever got a doctor to help, this was horrible and went on, on a daily basis. When they finally started addressing my IC and Fibromyalgia with medications it stopped. But I am not always given medication. For instance a few months ago they stopped some of my meds and it went on all month.
I am not on Elavil. I have a severe reaction to any of that class of meds.
What we found is it seems to be my bodys reaction to the pain. When given elmiron, atarax, hydrocodone and ultram it stops.
When my pain was finally addressed with medication I lost 45 pounds of fluid in about 8 or 10 days. And came out of that drugged like state.
I forgot to mention also that when this goes on I wake up with nasty yellow stuff in my eyes sometimes to the point of sealing them shut. My ears will hurt and itch terribly. And I will swell, especially in the face. I will have severe bladder pain and have about 10 bowel movements before I can even get dressed.
A couple of years before I got diagnosed with IC and fibromyalgia, I was sent in to have a colonoscopy. On the day I saw the gastroenterologist I naturally had the swelling along with the other symptoms. Several days after the colonscopy I had to return to see the gastroenterologist. I said look at me the swelling is gone and I have such freedom of movement this is wonderfull....I've been cleaning my house like crazy. His reply was. "naturally we put pain medication in your IV's when we put you under anesthetic."
As far as going to a doctor, my doctors have seen me when I am extremely groggy and so swollen my eyes are swollen shut and they say this is virtually impossible for this to happen or that it is psycosymatic. Some have even run tests for recreational drugs to no avail. Some doctors undestand this but cannot be my doctor because of their speciality.
Again the only thing we can prove is it is my body reaction to pain. This point has been proven repeatedly. I can bring these symptoms on myself... I can stop my pain medication and/or get off my IC diet and the symptoms will return immediately. Not that I would wish this on anyone but I just was hoping to find someone else who experienced this. I was hoping to find someone else to talk to. Just like we do when we first get a diagnoses of IC or fibromyalgia. And I am very sorry this was so long but thought it would explain better what I go through.
I thank you all for your replies,
Nancy

Wow! Nancy that sounds dreadful! :( You poor thing. I've never heard of anything like it, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am and hope someone figures out just what's going on very soon! Hang in there.
