Pessary

I am going to have a pessary put in (I almost said installed :biglaugh: ) in a month for my cystocele. She wants me to put hormone creme in my vagina every night for a month, because that is part of my problem and because I am sooo very dry.

Okay, I have heard and read so many things about pessaries, most of them bad. It is going to be put in in the office and she is going to teach me how to put it in and how to take it out. If it hurts then she will take it out or I will. Now, if the pessary does not work, then I have to have surgery.

I am not looking forward to all of this. :rolleyes:

Mel, I am sorry! I truly hopes that it works for you and that you can avoid surgery. I had tried a pessary once- they thought it would help my frequency- that was a joke! It did not stay in for long,oh well. I feel it is good to try every option. Let us know what happens. Judith

My mom has one she goes up to a uro /gyn specialist about every 2 months and he takes it out and cleans it and puts it back in. She has had great success with it. Hers is in to keep her bladder up. She is 80.When she first started with it she had to get it checked more often. No infections at all sicne having it in about 2 or 3 years i'd say.

Okay! I am going tommorow, Friday, to have my pessary put in. Wish me luck!! I am kind of nervous about it. Probably because I don't know what to expect. Anybody out there that can tell me what to expect??? Please get back to me.

Mel, have you ever used a diaphram? It is like that, putting it in, or if you have had an IUD put in it is kind of like that. Not bad at all. Good luck, I hope it works for you!

Well, I didn't need the pessary put in after all. It turns out that the vagifem that I take is helping matters down there. I am having no pain and everything is looking much better than last month when I was there. Thanks Vagifem!!!:woohoo: :bow:
