I had surgery on fri and sat am i woke up with this weird, tingly sensation on the tip of my tonge
It's tues and it's still there my tonge is very dry, went and saw the doc, she didn't say much at all about it, but if i want to go see a specialist i should.
Anyone ever have this after surgery & it went away?

I haven't had that exact experience that you describe, but my tongue and throat were very dry and chapped after my two surgeries from the anesthesia and the tube.
How are you doing? Are you recovering well? What kind of specialist would you see for this?

Hi B,
Thnx for the reply, Im ok, surgery was rough and i flared of course, but my main concern right now is this tingly in my tonge at the tip only. I did just speak w/my cousin who said after her lap she had a reaction 3 days after her surgery, she said her doc said that can happen up to 72 hrs.
I can only pray thats the deal, i have been drinking alot more fluids & eating ( which i wasn't doing ) and my tonge is starting to clear up ( it has this white stuff on it, kinda like you said it's chapped ) i know gross..but fact lol.
and on sat it was numb now just tingling and i am going to see my doc who did the surgery tomorrow so we'll see.
Please say a prayer that this is just a silly reaction that will slowly go away & not permanent.
Oh and no at this point i really have no clue what kind of specialist to see, the idiot today was sending me back to pcp, why bother might as well go straight to a specialist ( especialy w/no ins ) so ill ask my doc tomorrow when i see her what i should do. I am hopeing to get a better response from her than all the people i spoke with today, honestly got me nowhere! It was like i ran around in circles chasing my own tail, thats how they all made me feel!
Ok i rambled enough im sorry i am just so nervous about this i wish someone would post and say oh honey that happened to me & im just fine now it went all away PLEASE LOL.
well thnx for letting me vent etc..
Hugs,
Tracey :)

I have heard that sometimes people have a delayed reaction to the anesthesia... is that what your cousin meant?
No, I don't think this is permanent, Tracey! Your tongue is gonna get better! :)
