When I fell I sprained my ankle nothing is broken . My knee is the same the torn ligamnet in it . My dr. told me to get a knee brace to wear for my knee . and to use rice treatment. I still didn't hear anything about my auth #.
If I don't hear anything by wed or thursday I will call my gyno again.

I'm glad nothing was broken, Emily! That is great news :)

Donna, RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. We learned about it last year in health class :D

Sorry about your injuries, but glad that they weren't more serious!! Did you have a fall?

Sadly enough, I once fractured my ankle doing laundry <sigh>

kim,
Glad nothing was broken that was a relief. Glad you had the x-ray without an x-ray they was no way of telling for sure.

Please call your Dr's office and let them handle your INC. problems that is what their there for. Its there Job and know how to handle these things. You have enough stress dealing with your knee and ankle still healing from your pass surgery this UTI/Kidney infection and looking forward to a new surgery. You need to be taking care of you at this point.
sending hugs and prayers.

Kim,
I would not wait until Wednesday or Thursday to followup on your auth--isn't your surgery on Monday? Green, very good explanation of RICE an A+ to you! If your ankle is sprained, are they having you wear a support on it too? You didn't mention your Interstim, is it still giving you problems?? Did you talk to your doc??

Hugs,
Barb :grouphug:

Yes, I was also still very concerned with the Interstim. I can't stress enough that isn't device to just wait and see how things go, or it feels better today. Because tomarrow you may be in bad shape with it, especially with a hard fall. If your ankle is injured you could have very well done alot to your stim.

I agree Babs that you need the auth # before surgery on Monday. you could end up with a huge huge hospital bill you can't possible afford. Mine was well over $30,000 so far for my 4 day stay.

I agree with the others about the stim.
So glad that your leg isn't broken. :grouphug:

Hugs,
Donna rest ice compression and elevation. yes I fell I have peripheral neuropathyand it makes me lose my balance alot and fall. I haven't had falls in awhile but it seems pn is getting worse with 2 falls within 2 wks. Barb I just talked to my gyn's office on friday so I am going give it til wed or thursday to see if they have an auth # by then. If they don't I might have to reschedule the surgery. I hope I don't because everything is set in place for me to have the hysterectomy on the may 15th. my mom took a week off to take care of me , My sil took the day off to come with us to the hostipal so did my fiance. I took a week off from college. and the unbelievable pelvic pain. It's all up to the insurance company now . Bugging my gyno's office everyday will not make the insurance company go any faster. The reason I want to wait till thursday to call is my gyn is only in her office on thursdays and If they don't have the answer by thursday I want to talk to my gyno personally to see what we are going to do.Sorry Donna this is my second year taking medical courses sometimes I talk in medical language without noticing and sometimes people have a hard time understanding me .

sorry kim I wasn't thinking your surgery was so close. I would be calling your Dr's office and be getting on to someone there. that is what there hired to do!
PLZ let them handle this instead of you yourself fighting with those people from the inc. it may delay things more if you are calling them too. You need to be taking care of yourself. Not worrying so.
sending you hugs and prayers

I haven't called my insurance lately. I meant calling my gyn's office on wed or thurse to see if they have an authorize # and if they don't have it by thursday I will have to call and talk to my gyno to see what can we do. I misread something in your reading I thought you wrote I was fighting with the icn ,which I am not. I figured you meant insurance.

I'm a little concerned that you're only taking a week off from college. Hysterectomies require much longer than that to heal! If you don't take more time off, you could really hurt yourself!

I'm glad nothing is broken, at least! I agree that you need more time off than just one week to heal - I've seen ladies take a whole month off from work to have a hysterectomy before, and when they came back, you could still tell they weren't back to normal yet.

Blessings,
Lori

OMG Kim you will need way more then a week for an abdominal hysterectomy, you should know that from all your medical classes. Please put this on your ask the dr .list. i was told nothing for 4-6 weeks, no driving, complete pelvic rest, no lifting.

I also notice you said your gyn was only in on Thursdays, but you seen thyeon April 28th which was a Friday. Maybe call and make sure she isn't in any other day to get this straightened up.

Hugs, sure hope all goes as planned for you, but I am really concerned for the 1 week off only. I wa sin the hospita for 4 days of the first week

even with a partical hy it took me at least a good four to five weeks just to be able to sit back down at the p.c. Kim please talk to your Dr. about much time you will need off. Even with people taking classes online need more time off then just a week. You will need time to heal hon.
take care of you.
sending you hugs and prayers

glad you had your leg and ankle looked at, but what about the stim, did they do x-rays of that.. when I fell out my back door, my uro had me go straight to the hospital for an x-ray, wires in the spinal area are not something to mess with... sorry, I am nagging at you but, this is serious. I also wanted to thro in here that your interstim must be OFF when you have your surgery.. I had mine done lap, it was supposed to be done vaginally, but it wasn't possible. it took me 4 weeks or so to recover... you most diffently will need to take more then a week off of school and work.. they told me 4 to 6 weeks, so being cut open I would imagine 6 to 8 weeks.. I know Leslie was in pain for quite sometime...

hey fishie you get and A+ from me too..

{{{{emilyrose******** So much to keep track of, huh? So many people here are interested in what is happening with you. I hope things can get settled down and on track for you.

I hope you aren't feeling pressured or questioned by people here. If you do, please latch on to the posts that feel right to you, OK? The last thing you need to worry about is things here at the ICN. You just do what you need to for your health and surround yourself with the people you care about.

Hang in there. :kissing:

Hi there!, I agree with the others that you should probably take more than a week off if you can.

I really messed up once a couple of years ago, I had my gall bladder removed on a Thursday, and went back to work on Monday, as I was scared to death of losing my job (I had only been there 3 weeks!) That going back that ONE day (I didn't even stay the whole day) set me back for a 2 WEEKS!! I was unable to work at all for the rest of that week, and only half days the following week. In other words, pushing myself to do too much too soon actually acomplished the oposite of what I wanted. I ended up taking MORE time off than I would have if I had just rested in the first place!

It's coming up real quick for you, you must be getting really anxious! Like Kim said above, you're getting alot of responses....we're all very concerned about you....try to pick what is useful for you out of each one and leave it at that. We all care alot about you and want to know what's going on, so please continue to keep us posted! You're in my thoughts and prayers!

You absolutely need more than one week off to recover from a major surgery like a hysterectomy. Usually it takes at least four to six weeks --- and you should not do any lifting for another several weeks.

I had a TAH and was off work for 8 weeks, and was still on light duty for another month. You really need more time than a week. Even if the incision is healed on the outside, there are so many deep sutures and areas that just need time. Heck, I got busted for doing too much.

Hugs,
Barb :grouphug:

Glad to hear that nothing was broken....espicially since it took awhile to get the results back would hate to think you were walking around on a broken bone. Am I understanding this correctly? You are only taking 1 week off for your surgery? What happens if you are in the hospital for 4-5 days that only give you a few days at home. Oh my goodness, you must be very strong there is no way I could have done that. Best of luck to you
