I have been using Cystoprotek since January. I can definitely tell a difference. Both my urgency & frequency are down.
I have never taken Elmiron, so can't make a comparison.

I've taken both Elmiron and CystoProtek and both work :flower: well for me. Many healthcare providers recommend that you take both products; they believe that it helps the lining of the bladder heal faster. Some of those providers will wean the patient off of one or the other; some will keep them on both if the patient is doing well.

I have only taken Algonot but feel it has helped both with pain and urgency. Now, if Icould cure my night pees, I would be all set.

Sammie:

If you haven't tried Hydroxyzine, ask your healthcare provider if this drug would be appropriate for you to try. Hydroxyzine (that's the generic name - the brand names are Atarax and Vistaril) help with the following:

Hydroxyzine has been found to:
* decrease nocturia (night time voiding)
* decrease daytime frequency
* decrease pain (burning, pressure, painful intercourse)

Hydroxyzine pamoate (Vistaril) has a slightly higher absorption rate.

I began cystoprotek Jan 17, so it has been four months. I can definately report that there is an improvement in my pain. I was on elmiron years ago even before it was approved - I stopped after 3 months due to hair loss. I experienced no benefit. BUt the algonot has no sideeffects for me. My pain is much less and flairs are milder. Yesterday was a junk food day. I had a waffle maple syrup for breakfast with bacon. Lunch was a non chocolate protien bar. Dinner was popcorn at the movies. All these food would usually give me a big flare up. I did wake up with some discomfort around 5 am. This is usually when my flairs begin. I took my cystoprotek this morning and am eating more sensibly.
I have also been taking buffered c powder morning and night with water. This is supposed to be very alkalynizing. I think it is helping too.
Best wishes,
Kim

How many pills are in a bottle of Cystoprotek? I am thinking about ordering it. Seems like everyone is taking different amounts. How many does it say to take on the bottle?

There are 120 capsules in a bottle. The recommended dose is 6 per day for the first three months; then reduce to 4 per day as a daily regimen. The bottle comes with instructions on how to take it (with food - 2 capsules, 3x per day, etc). You can find more information on the product at www.algonot.com.

It works very well for many patients, including myself. Ask your healthcare provider if they believe it is an appropriate treatment option for you.

ICB, are you on both the Elmiron and CystoProtek. If so how many of each do you take? How long before you felt any help from either or both of them?
