I was just diagnosed today. I guess I am lucky in the fact that it was my gyno who suggested that I have this. I had never heard if it before. I was wondering if it is common to have endometrosis along with it. I just always thought my IC pain was endo. It all gets so very confusing.

Hi Melissa and :welcome: to the ICN family I'm so very sorry you have IC, but you found a great place with people who care, understand, and try to be helpful as possiable!

Yes its common for IC to be linked with endo. IC is also link to many other illness. A lot of uro's in your case gyn. try to rule out all other cases before dx IC. Glad you have a gyn who knows IC.

Don't feel bad hon I didn't know what IC was either when I was dx. I felt so alone, scared. The only onces i knew to trun to was the Dr's and RN's which honestly they didn't know a lot because none of them suffered. all they knew to tell me was I was having a flare for me to drop my soda's and spicy foods to follow the IC diet. I was lucky the Dr ask the Rn's to send me a book on IC. After reading it I found this website. Then and there when I reg here I knew i wasn't alone! These WONDERFUL people here reach out to me to help try to calm my fears. They understood! We will be here for you just the same.

Please check out the ICN handbook this will help you a lot! It also has the IC diet there. don't let the diet scare you. Once you find out your trigger you will be able to start adding things slowly back to your diet.
you can find this handbook at www.ic-network.com/handbook

what type of medicine did your gyn start you on?

sending you hugs and prayers
:grouphug: and  ers

if you would like to talk please feel free to p.m.

:welcome: to the ICN!!!

Yes many people have both IC and endo. Many people have thought that their IC pain was from endo. I got diagnosed with IC first...and had symptoms for such a long time before I had pain I was surprised that my pain was from my bladder...little did I know how bad the bladder pain could be!:grouphug:

:welcome: My ob/gyn was the first doctor I went to with my IC symptoms and the first to say he bet that's what it was. We're very lucky - most people go through such a long diagnostic process. :(

You've already been given great advice. Just wanted to welcome you. :)
