Hi everyone,
Does anyone used prilosec OTC for frequency/urgency? If you do, how much do you take and when do you take it (my biggest concern is dealing with these symptoms at night)? Also, how long can you take it (is using it too long bad for you?)?
Best wishes, little bear
PS. Although I've already bought a 14 day supply of prilosec, if I end up taking it longer than that, I'm wondering if there's anything similar that isn't quite as expensive?

You are the first person I have seen mention Prilosec for discomfort. I have hesitated mentioning it on line because I want to be sure I am just not in some mini remission. I took it for the 14 days as directed on the packageand have had tremendous improvement with my symptoms. I also started taking a medication similar to Urelle called UTA (it is prescription and a bit stronger than Urelle) about the same time as the Prilosec. I have only taken the UTA sparingly. I only needed to take one a day for a couple days even though the instructions say you can take every four hours as needed. I am not sure which thing helped me change my frequency problem. I am thinking of taking another dose of Prilosec to see if it clears me up completely. Combining the Prilosec and the UTA seems to be really helping me is what I want to say here.

Hi Franny,
Thanks for your reply. I'm so glad to hear that you have found something that works for you! I searched the boards and it seems that other folks use Prilosec too (although I don't know anything about UTA). Thanks for letting me know how you take it too.
I know that some folks actually take 2 a day, but I don't know when or in what dosages, etc. Also, I don't know how long you can take it (although I've seen 28 day packs in the stores).
Either way, I'm really glad for you and I hope that you continue to feel better, and better, and better.
Best wishes, little bear
