Hi Guys
I just need to know if anyone else experiences this:
When my period ends I have one good week where it feels as though all my symptoms are 90% - 95% gone. After this week (2 weeks before my period) they come back and then when I get my period it's even worse.
I've been on Elmiron for 4 1/2 months now and when this first started to happen I thought it was the Elmiron working, now I think it's just my menstrual cycle.

The hormone Progesterone becomes dominant and estrogen falls up before period and during period, after peroid is over estrogen kicks in again. Sounds like you are reacting to the progesterone surge which is common with ICers as Progesterone is a known bladder irritant.
What some of the ladies do is get on BC bills, a high estrogen pill, low progestin, pill and stay on it for three months at a time to cut down on periods. Yasmin is another good pill for ICers.
Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks for that Sami. I will have to speak to my doctor about that. I'm not on any pill at the moment and haven't been on one for a few years now. I ended up going off it because I hated my mood when I was on it. I just never felt myself. But it's worth a try. :)

Dani:
BC pills are all very different and have different types of estrogens and progestins, so if you didnt do well on one, you might do well on another. Main thing for Icers is get one with a high estrogen to progestin ratio. I is usually the progestin that people react to and they can come from several different families. Personally I prefer the testosterone family such as levonorgestrel as I think it makes me feel more energetic and no bloating or moodiness. You just need to try a few different types.

How do you get doctos to listen to you about this stuff??? I am having issues similar but a bit different. i am find during my period and the week after. Then things start to slip and I have pms for the two weeks before my period and fell like I always have to go with this weird heavy ness in the urethra but I can hold it. I am on trilevelin 28 BC pill and things change when I get to the white ones. I cant even get anyone to look at my case. Im lost! :loco:

Hi!
I noticed awhile back that there are a few days 3-4-5 (depending) right after my period stops that my bladder feels pretty good! AS long as I stick with the diet especially on those days!
I look forward to that EVERY month! Even my fibromyalgia and other pains slow down after my period. It feels like such a blessing because my pms and periods are SOO painful/heavy. :(
That's nice to know about the BC. I'm leary of going back on BC because I'm 36 and just got sooo tired of it, so I made my DH get "fixed" LOL
PLUS, I had a really good friend go on BC at 35 and she had a major blood clot and almost died! :( It really scared me and she has never smoked her whole life, which made me aware that smoking only "increases" the risks, but anyone over 35 is a risky BC candidate. :( Drats......wish I wasnt' so old! LMAO!
