Talked with my Uro and we both decided that I should stop this. Have been bleeding too much with my period. So much so that the Naproxen isn't even helping with it. He is going to try and help me on another matter. He is really the greatest Uro in the world. He is willing to help me with anything other then the bladder also. I'm hoping he will be able to get an OK with what he will be working on.

I'm so sorry this didn't work for you - I'm hoping that your uro will find a medicine that will help you feel like normal very soon! Don't give up hope!
Blessings,

PW, Naproxen is an NSAID like ibuprofen. They thin the blood, so they do nothing for any kind of excess bleeding. Should you ever revisit cytotec as an option, I hope you'll try to make it through a few menstrual cycles, in case this heavy bleeding was one of the side effects that faded over time (like some of the other side effects).
BTW, you seem to have an unusual case of IC, since you can tolerate acidic foods and get flared by water. What are your symptoms in general?

The naproxen helps so I don't have all the cramping and excessive bleeding during my period. I get very large clots without it. Ibuprofen does nothing. My Uro doesn't understand it either but without the Naproxen I bleed all over and I mean all over. I end up in the bathroom just for that. He said the Cystotec is used for abortions and that is why I was bleeding more with no help from the Naproxen. (Pamprin and Midol do not help either which I know they are Naproxen). Have been using the Naproxen for 7 years for the bleeding. My IC symptoms are pain, feeling like I have to pee non-stop. Everything down below is sore too along with the eurethra. I'm not sure about the urgency since I don't have that sudden urge to pee. Only if I've had something to drink and then I need to go but it isn't that sudden urge. He's going to try and get me something else. Not sure if he will be able to but he is going to try.

Are you able to take pyridium?

Sorry PW about having to forgo cytotec. I've been a several day flare and I don't know what from. I'm having doubts about cytotec for me too. I planned on it making me better and I'm very disappointed. I hope you find something, too. Atleast there are new drugs in trial. PV

Wendy, I've tried it twice but I get too dizzy from it.
PV--sorry to hear you're not having any luck with this too. Maybe you'll find something else to try.

PW, I know a lot of drugs make you dizzy. Are you talking about pyridium from the drug store making yuou dizzy, like Uristat or AZO Standard?
I am starting to think that the Uristat I have is one of the few things that really makes a difference, other than, possibly, calcium citrate and prelief. I would be surprised to hear that plain pyridium OTC from the drug store would make somebody dizzy, but perhaps it is more common than I thought. I never even knew what pyridium was before joining the ICN.
I have hopes to try a variety of other things yet. i myself have not gotten the cytotec yet, but I am very interested in it if it will at least enable me to take NSAIDS like naproxen or even advil. I also have yet to try Vesicare and a few other things. But i have been on various prescription pain killers, and I am really not convinced that they have helped me as directly as the Uristat/pyridium I bought myself. If you haven't tried it (meaning the low level OTC kind), I would really recommend trying it. I think the standard recommended dosage is provided in two pills, so you can even just try half.
Your case is sort of unusual, with your tolerance of acidic things, so it would make sense that all of the urine-alkalizing remedies would not be helpful to you, but pyridium is just a pain remedy that works from directly inside the bladder. I sure hope you find something that works for you.

It wasn't the OTC kind. Perscription one. If my Uro can get me what he is going to try and get me then I will be happy with that. I'm sort of tired of taking pills and trying to find ones I haven't taken and then ones that don't come with so many side effects. None of them will make the IC go away so if he can get me what he is trying to do it will help to make it liveable pain wise. If he can't then I will have to just go with what i have now and no more. I can't take keep trying with no results. It's just to hard. I hope you have good luck with finding something that helps or makes your IC go away.
