:hmm: I started this subject in the Venting category but it really got me thinking about the whole subject of bloating.
Many of us have what we call the "IC Belly", the swollen abdomen that starts the day looking fairly normal but continues to grow until day's end.
So is there anything anyone takes that helps the swelling? I fell miserable right now, uncomfortable and quite irratible. I really am almost afraid to call my doctor's office as I know my nurse is tired of hearing me whine. :loco: Seems like I call 2 times a week with some kind of delimma.
Let me know if there are any supplements that you take or whatnot that helps.
THANKS!

nope hunny, sorry to say there isnt anything we can take to alleviate that dreaded "IC Belly". Or at least nothing I've found works....I do take some gas drops (infant mylecon drops) and use a hot water bottle. Dunno if it really helps or not LOL because after a few hours it eventually starts to go down. Not sure if anything I do makes a difference in that...but...its worth a shot.

I have taken Gas X pills. Yeah, they don't work very well. Do you think it is the meds causing the gas or the IC?
Do you think it is the Gas causing all the abdominal swelling or also fluid retention?

I have no idea sweetie...wish I had the answer for you. Alls I know is I hate my IC belly (I went into major flare mode Monday evening with IC and fibro) so I've had the belly thing going on for the past 36 hours now Ugh  Do you have a hot water bottle? If you dont, I highly recommend you get one...they help SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much - moreso than a heating pad, especially because the large hot water bottles hold a bit of weight and that makes my stomach feel much better.
GasX doesnt work for me...I always get the infant gas drops...and I ususally have to take 2 droppers full to get any relief from them but given I'm an adult, I'm within the proper doseage.

Thanks Bella....I will try the Mylacon drops. Sure has been a few years since I bought any of those, I remember they were pricey so I will try the generic.
No I don't have a water bottle. May try that too. I bought a "Bed Buddy" a few days ago that I can heat in the microwave here at the office. It is nice as it is heavier than the heating pad, but has a funny smell. Oh well, can't have it all, right??

Oh I dont buy the name brand - heavens no LOL - they cost like $14.00! I go to Wally World and get their generic, same size and ingredients as name brand for about $4.00.
Give them a try, they work much better than GasX.

If it makes you feel any better my belly was so swolen all last week I looked pregnant. I think some people at work were wondering if I am cause I quit coffee in March after I was diagnosed and they heard me talking about quitting smoking recently. :biglaugh:

Update on Bloated Belly......
I have had a miraculous cure! Well, still get a little IC swelling and that I can deal with but the painful gassy bloat is gone! I figured out that it was the Flax Seed Oil I was taking. Who knew? And it is supposed to be good for your digestion, well apparently not for mine!!!
I felt pretty good all weekend. Althought now we think that I have IBS too, yeah me.

The funny thing is ...... how do you know whats bloating from
IBS and whats bloating from IC :bonk:
All I know is I have been miserable since about 3 pm yesterday
and I think the bloating is IBS but cause Some IC flare...... :hmm:
Anyway I can only start watching what I eat more closely and hope
the reglan, Zelnorm and Acipex take over and control.......
