There are a lot of us whose IC discomforts worsen before our periods, ugh. I am one of them, lol. My bladder behaves wonderfully, but that's still one of the things that can remind me it's there...that and ovulation. After my period starts and is almost over, symptoms are gone. There are also those who get relief from their symptoms before/during their periods. My doctor (ugh - and a gyno no less!) tried to tell me that it wasn't affected by hormones!! HA! I pointedly told him "oh YES is is!" LOL!!! ;)

Right before, during, and just after my period are definite flare times for me. It begins about 2 days before my period, lasts through my 4 day flow (I'm on birth control pills, so it's shorter), and then lasts anywhere from 1 day to a week after my flow stops.

It's pretty common to get pain around one's menstrual period.

Thank-you all for responding . So glad I found this website . Currently doing installations with heparin, lidocaine gentamicin , marcaine and one other that the name escapes me . Started 6 weeks ago after the worst flare in eleven years . They helped and got noticibly better about 3 weeks ago but now that I am close to my period ( day 26) i was getting worried the treatments were failing . I guess nothign is foolproof , right ? Also taking 2 mg ofvalium 3 times a day . Usually the day I get my period is the very best ... thansk again
