Cloudy Urine

My IC is fairly mild - I can go weeks and sometimes months between flares. I have noticed lately, though, that when I'm flaring, that my urine is cloudy. Does anyone else have this?

Hi,
I think cloudy urine is a symptom of a urinary tract infection. I would get one of those over the counter at home UTI testers if I were you to check that you dont have a UTI.

I have cloudy urine too but don't know why. It's weird. I don't have a UTI or anything (I had one but it was treated and is gone now).

For me it was a sign to check for a UTI that may be brewing... ;)

:welcome: to the ICN. Some patients with IC do get cloudy urine occassionally....it may be a UTI, or yeast. Do you have other symptoms such as blood in urine, burning during urination, anthing else unusual in urine?

I agree with Katrina...my urine is cloudy all the time but I always have a infection whether it is a uti or yeast.

My uro said that cloudy urine does not necessarily mean a bladder infection.

I didn't mean to imply that it has to be an infection....but I recommend searching out other possible causes for that symptoms before being sure it is just IC....unfortunatly with IC you have to discover what is normal for you...because we are all different.

ok so if it is related to urine ph if it is too alkaline that can indicate there is an infection....so if cloudy is related to ph it is too alkaline???? What color is it when it is cloudy?

Thanks for all your reponses! When having a flare, my main symptoms are pain/burning before/during/after urination, and urgency (which is only present during a flare). I don't think that the cloudiness is related to UTI for me, as I haven't had one for quite some time, and the cloudiness goes away on it's own. The color is normal. I've been wondering if it might have something to do with my kidneys - that maybe something wasn't getting filtered out, and was actually causing my flares. Just a thought, though.

You just have to ask your uro about the PH because I do not remember exactly what all he said about it. I think I also asked him about stinky urine and he said that indicates infection. Have you all heard that one?

My urine is always cloudy. Whether I have an infection or not...
