Ever since my Ic has acted up I haven't been able to excersise like i used to.
What kind of excersise have you found you can do without aggravating your IC?

The only exercising I found I can do without making the IC worse is using the easy shapper exerciser. I was afraid of spending the $100 (which two months later they were down to $60.00) but it seems to be the one. Some of the yoga moves are good too. I know how you feel. I use to lift weights and do arobics and a lot of walking. Hardly ever sat down. Good luck with finding something.
When I was sicker, yoga & walking.
Now, I can use the elliptical trainer & the rowing machine at the gym.

I power-walk three or more miles per day. But I don't have the urgency/frequency as much as most people on the board.

I walk every day for 35-40 minutes. Depending on how my bladder feels, I walk very fast or quite slow. As long as I listen to what my bladder's telling me, it doesn't seem to do any harm. I adore walking, as I live next door to a beautiful park and it soothes and restores my soul!

Hi There...I started running a few months ago and my body freaked out a little. I would pee, put on my sneakers, and within the forst 30 seconds I felt like I had to pee again. I knew I really didn't so I just kept jogging. When I got to a bathroom, I would go, just to put my mind at ease. Now its a few months later and this rarely happends, although once in awile it does. I agree with listening to your body. I also do yoga. Yoga is great because if you find a good class, they will show you different levels of poses. That way if something does not feel right, you dont have to do it. No jarring motion to effect your bladder. Good luck!

I go for walks and in summer I swim. I don't do well in water with clorine so don't swim in any of the indoor, heated pools. I haven't been as faithful about walking in our Oregon rain so I really need to get with it now that the weather is getting better.

Yea Donna, the weather in California has been really wet this winter and spring so far, so the walking outside hasn't been possible. But I think that is past us, so off to the beach for walks with my dog.
Just remember to start slowly. I made the mistake a couple of times of walkiing to fast and to far and pain for it for a few days afterwards. I also haven't been able to do anything at the gym. I have tried it three times in the last several months and something about walking on the tread mill or bike or eliptical just didn't agree with me. But, I am not giving up, I will try again, just slowwwwwwly. I aslo bought the Hatha Yoga CD from the ICN Shop. I used it before my hydro and it was great. I am just starting to feel good enough to use it again. So, definitely try Yoga, or anything with gentle stretching. Just be careful and don't over do it like I did! Good luck and have fun! :)

Swimming and the Elliptical.
I can do a few crunches occassionally......if I'm feeling really brave (and/or stupid) but not like I used to be able too! lol

Depending on how good I am feeling (like pain-level!), I can usually work out several times a week at the gym lifting weights (but not the extent I used to before these i.c. problems!!) and using the eliptical machine going 1-2 miles depending on time. I also try to walk in-between those times 1.5 - 3.0 miles (up severe Tennessee hills!!!!). I have to be careful not to put any pressure on my bladder or lower abs when lifting (or lifting too heavy!) or it will cause bad pain at nite!!!
I am 54 and before all of this I could jog at a nice pace for a few minutes, but don't dare 'jar' my bladder now!!
