I went to the Dr. on Monday and Two weeks ago we took the Old Double Stent out of the Left Kidney and But a New Double J in. Some Caluicm Build on it. We will Change it again in August. Now this my Olny Option to Keep the Left Urter Open so the Left and only Kidney can Drain. But Still Have Some Bloody Urine. But that is Part of it Cause I am on that Blood thinner also.

I also Found an IC Phamplet in there. Some Facts.
The Average Person with Ic Urinates 16 times a Day. Those with Severe Cases May Urinate up to 60 Time a Day and Night! ( That was Me Back then.)

How Common is IC?
In the US, and Estimated 700,000 to one Million People Suffer from IC. Ninety Percent of those are womwn, But Men Can also Be affected. On Average IC develops around age 40. !!! Oh No not me it did Not.

Your Bladder is a Muscular, Balloon-like Sac in your Pelvic area that expands as it stores Urine.

Your Bladder has a Protective Layer or GAG Layer that forms a Barrier Betwwen your Urine and the Bladder wall. This Protects the Bladder from toxins in the Urine.

In 70% of People with IC this Proective Layer of the Bladder Leaks Urine, which Irritates the Bladder wall. The Bladder May become Inflamed, Scarred or Stiff, and Nerves may Be damaged.

Also Please do not waite to empty your Bladder. That will Cause More of the Infection to settle in to the Bladder.

Just wanted to share some info.

Hope that Everyone is having a pain Free Day.

I have Good and Bad Days still.

Everyone in in my Prayers. Now that Spring is Here I Can get out of my Winter Blues.

The Double J stent Helps alot. But it does hurt sometimes But at Least the urine in Draining. I go back to Duke in July. I know the Answer ! Keep the Stent so we do not have to do any more Major surgery. Believe I have had My share of those.

Have a Nice Day

Debbie, I so admire your attitude and hope Spring brings you much joy. Thanks for the info. I think many of us would be grateful to be average and only go 16 times a day! Mary

Debbie, I will keep you in my prayers. You are someone who has really helped adjust to the external bag. I am having my kidney x-ray in May so see if the right kidney is draining better. I saw my gyn. about the pelvic pain that remains. He said it is because of the nerve damage. I like you, urinated 6o times a day before I had my bladder removed. The constant burning pain is gone thank God. I can live with the pelvic pain. He told me to see a neurologist and get some neurontin. I am sure my uro. will prescribe it for me. It has been hot in Nebraska and I am finding that sweating under my bag is a problems. I have open oozing sores again. Any suggestion about the sweating? Thanks for always caring about others, when you have so many problems with your own health. You are a good person!

Debbie, I am glad that the stent is now working and they are keeping a close watch on things. I am on Coumadin for life too so I know all about bleeding. If it is not one thing it is another right? Spring makes me come alive too. I spend as much time as possible working in the garden, very theraputic! Enjoy the weather. Now just stay out of the hosptial for awhile, okay?
Carly they have pouch covers that go on teh pouch, they are made of soft cloth and will keep you skin nice and dry. The cover absorbs sweat. You can even make them yourself if you like to sew. Just trace the pouch on a piece of material making it a little bigger than the pouch. Do it to two pieces of cloth and sew them together. Dont forget to leave a hole so it will fit around the opening and at the bottom where the spout is. Use any type of cloth you want- soft flannel, terry cloth, brushed cotton knit. What ever you like the feel of. The place where you get your pouches from will usually sell them too. Just ask next time you place an order.
