:woohoo: Tracey!! Things are slowly starting to turn green in your neck of the woods!!! Not too long now before those daffodils are in full bloom!......And come on with the self portraits... :) Does your camera have a remote control? Mine does, which makes situations like your self portrait adventure a little less tiring......hahaha..i can see you now running back and forth, clicking the timer button, a quick primp, then smiling for the camera...repeat..hahaha...love it! How many pics did you end up taking? I think its great making your own personal scrapbooking page...go you!
Off to the new uro appt now...hopefully it'll go well.
Later days!

OOOOH new uro?? Do report on how that goes eh??
You got it! No remote control so it's set run into position, hope I have the camera in the right spot and angle, lol. It's highly entertaining!! I got a few, but 2 that I really like, cause I didn't have to screw with them - much, lol!! I will try to get them on tonight, but if not, fine fine fine, I put them on in the morning! LOL!!!! I wanted to do a book just for me, figured future kids would get a kick out of it, lol. I am still in the photo gathering stage, lol. Hopefully will get something on paper one of these days... *sigh* still have no where to lay out all my crap, lol.
Yeah!!! A few green things! I am so excited!!! I wish I had some early spring daffs, of course I have late spring ones, ugh. Nothing like waiting...... ;)

I have been one of the many "lurking" on this thread thoroughly enjoying all your wonderful photos. I certainly am not much of a photog, but I have a few pics of the spring flowers in my yard and thought I'd venture a stab at sharing them. I had them on Flickr and tried to post them. Alas, it didn't work and I was in a hurry to get to an appointment so I just pulled the post. I hate to ask for instructions as I know you have posted this many times. I'll try to read through the older posts to find help and see if I can figure out what I am doing wrong. So.......that blip, Traceann, was just an "old dog" trying to learn a new trick........and not succeeding. :bonk: LOL!

:) Not long to go now Tracey, look at it this way, by the time your flowers come into bloom, every one else's flowers are long gone, :woohoo:
anyway, I am thinking the same as you, I'm going to put a scrapbook together just for Lily, I have plenty of pics, lol
Diana, yes please give us a report on the new uro, cause we wanna know!

:) this flower comes out once, or maybe twice a year, it just finished flowering, again I do not know the name, a elderly neighbour gave it to me years ago, and it never flowered for her, I don't know what Im doing right because it has always flowered for me, but it does get a bit neglected, so maybe that what this plant likes.http://static.flickr.com/1/122930081_0a90dfe7c4.jpg

Nice flower pic, Martha. Its neat that your neighbor gave it to you and you've had success with it blooming..:)
Annie there are instructions on how to attach a picture early on in the other photography thread. If you can't find it dont hesitate to come back here and ask..:)
Tracey, next time youre taking self photos youre going to have to set the video camera up so we can atleast get some entertainment of you running, primping, and repeating.. :biglaugh:
My Dr's appt went very well. I posted in the "Just Venting" section--couldnt figure where else to post it.

:) Oh those hyacints are beautiful, I love the smell, what are the flowers on the first pic??
Annie2
04-18-2006, 04:32 PM
Thank you, Martha. I love the fragrance of hyacinths, too! Just wish they would last a bit longer. The first pic in the second set is looking down into a big bed of spring wild flowers that we have always called spring windflowers (not the same as summer Grecian Windflowers also known as anemones).

Lovely flowers Annie! Glad you decided to post them--theyre so cheery! And I must say you have quite the color collection going on--very nice!! I wish I knew one flower from the next like y'all do. The only thing I can call by name are roses, daffodils, and weeds..hahaha..
Now, for anyone who has yet dared to try the following, I advise---DON'T!.....

Annie, have you tried it?...I'm fortunate that I'm not too terribly food sensitive so I tried it the other night. I had been looking for it since the beginning of April with no luck. The other night I asked my son if he'd seen it--yep, up the street at the 7/11. So he drove us up there (he's recently gotten his learners permit) and I bought one..ooooooooohhhhhhhh my!!!-how disgusting can a combination possibly be!!!??!!!!..uggggh!!!!!!!!!!..hahahaha..I had seen Anderson Cooper taste it on TV a few weeks ago and he spit it out..hahahaha..I figured "ah, he's just exaggerating"..NOT!!!......I came home, took the picture of the bottle and poured it down the drain...Now have the bottle displayed on one of our shelves...haha..as a reminder I suppose.. :biglaugh:

Oh Annie!! I love the photos, I am so glad you tried again!! Such happy flowers huh?? :) Whew, and I thought I was going crazy looking for "The Post That Was But Wasn't" LOL!!!!
Oh great Sheebah, Lily will have a fantastic scrapbook, she's just so darned expressive and adorable...ugh, again making me want to smooch that furry little face!! Heh, can you tell I love critters?? LMAO!! ;)
Ewww, ok I wasn't even aware Coke did that!! I have a feeling it might go the way of the "New Coke" way back when!! LMAO! Bleck.
Oh very funny D, you know IF I had a video camera, I probably would video it cause it was pretty funny... And even funnier, I wore a tube top, so no colored shirts or whatever would "compete" and first thing hubby said was "WERE YOU TOPLESS?!?" Um, yeah right honey...sheesh. Men.
Ok, D since you asked so nicely, lol here's the two that will most likely make it into the album, unless I get some better ones at some point, LMAO!!!
All I did was crop this one, couldn't believe the BLINDING sunlight worked well - look ma! No wrinkles!! LMAO!!! Only didn't know my hair was scrunched, boo hiss, oh well, no crows feet are worth it!
http://static.flickr.com/52/130767582_4e1b72834a_m.jpg
And this one was different lighting, and I think I only cropped this one, but it's a little more true to life, lol:

Hee hee hee, real funny Bella!! LMAO!! I mean, what was he thinking - oh duh, I know what he was thinking, "woo hoo! Nekkid pictures!!" LMAO!!!!! I mean yeah yeah yeah, I have bare shoulders! *GASP* LOL, but he should have known me better than that, geesh. I explained to him that those "glamour shots" thingies, have you wear a tube top so they can "dress" you easily, soooo I decided to wear one so no colors competed - but his reply was "yeah, but are you TOPLESS?" ARGH!!!!!!! WAAAAAAAA!!!

Traceann, what a beautiful and YOUNG woman you are!
Janie, I, too, just got a peek at your wonderful pics and hope you will post the link again.
You all have me going now with trying my hand at some photography. I don't know what I am doing......just mess with the camera until it clicks then hope for the best....that's how it's done, right??? LOL! I'm having fun, though, and I guess that's what counts. I took more photos today and thought I'd post a few of them.

Look what happens when you are away from the boards for awhile....LOTS!!
So many beautiful photos i don't know where to start.
Firstly Annie, I lve your pics and I don't kno about anyone else..but that's certainly the way I take shots.. Shoot, look, delete, shoot, look delete etc until I get one thats worthy of keeping.. :biglaugh:
The photos of all the spring flowers are making me envious. Not that my garden yields too much in the way of flowers...that's what I have neighbours for!
We have this wonderful new camera and I've hardly used it except for some terrible night shots...far too embarrassing to show.
PS and Annie thanks for you signature picture...I've added it my 'Rogues Gallery' of ICN members

Annie why is it that I dont think youre a beginner???? Your flower shots are wonderful! And ya know, sometimes, actually more times than not, just aiming, shooting, and crossing youre fingers yields the best shots.
Rosalie, I think that new camera of yours needs a workout! Break it in, girl!
I took some pics around our yard, the neighbors yard (discovered they have some pretty red flowers in bloom in their side yard), and of my grandbirds this afternoon, only to get a "memory card error", and poof!!!--all my pics were gone!!!!!!....ugggh! So, when the husband woke up I sent him up to Best Buy to exchange this one (PNY) for another SanDisk. The PNY has been giving us fits since we bought it a couple months ago. Anyway, I went back out to try again and everything went well except for the baby bird pictures--they were asleep and weren't the least bit interested in being photographed unlike earlier in the day..
LOL@ the not-so-nice thread comment. I'm not sure i'd be participating either... :biglaugh:

While coming back from dinner last night we passed by Missy Elliots (y'all know who she is, right?..the hip-hop/rapper chick) new house thats still under contruction. I posted a pic of her "old" house in the other phote thread; apparently that house wasnt big enough so she needed a new one...aaaallllllllllllrighty then!
Excuse the quality of the pic;i placed the camera on the hatch of the truck (makeshift tripod??) and the vibration caused the blurriness....

I had a funny idea to get better pics of Missy's house...how about stopping, knocking on her door, explain to her that i "really need to go" and would she "be so accomodating as to let me use her bathroom"; then I can snap away inside..think that'll work? Kevin says i'm brazen enough to actually try and pull it off..:).if that doesnt work out I guess we'll just have to sit back and anxiously watch for her to appear on CRIBS..I need to get some shots from the side of her house--the straight-on shot doesnt do the size any justice--its easily 15000 square feet.
RE: the babysitting comment...haha...well, i guess if momma bird really needs a break I would step in and help out..Otherwise she's on her own!..haha..She doesnt like me very much--i got this impression yesterday when she kept flying past me slapping me in the head with her wings..maybe i'm not the one she'd choose to babybirdsit..:)
Happy snappin' y'all!
D
PS. Rosalie, ask your daughter if she knows who Teddy Riley is; i'm sure she does since she's into the music scene. His studio is in Va Beach. While I dont know him personally maybe I can hook her up since we're "neighbors"..hahaha...

Yikes, gone for a couple days, and I too am waaaaaaaaay behind!! LOL!! Thank you Annie for the lovely compliment, makeup and hair color are wonderful things...LMAO!!! I love the flower pics too!! My fave is looking through the dogwood... Seems like I read a long time ago, in like Popular Photography or something like that, to take as many shots as you can - cause out of 30+ you are bound to get one keeper!! LOL Happy accidents is what happens for me! Thank god digital came along - regular film is way to expensive for me!!! LMAO!!
I had that happen with a memory card to D, might have been the same brand...hmmmm, I had all kinds of pics on there, and quite a few were of my calico the week before she died - I got a card error and they were all gone.....
I had a vision of Diana babysitting the grandbirds - god help her when it's lunch time *gulp* LMAO!!!!

Thanks so much for the compliments! I really am a beginner. Thirty years ago (long before digital) my hubby, who always has been interested in photography, tried to teach me how to handle an SLR. I shot a few pics, but it was too much to mess with and I didn't want to waste all that film and pay to develop it. This past Christmas I surprised my hubby with the new digital SLR camera he had been drooling over (Canon Rebel). Now I have inherited the old Kodak he had been using. I shot about 80 pics the other day and the ones posted are the better ones out of the bunch. At least I didn't waste film! Being able to enhance and edit the photos on the computer is so great! Wow! It really is fun!!! The one looking through the dogwood tree I didn't edit......just had an incredibly beautiful blue sky that day. The close up of the dogwood branch I shot with sunlight on it and shot down at green grass. Then I cropped and edited it darkening the exposure til the grass was dark but the light on the blossoms still stood out. I am having a great time with this. I'm not getting other things done......cleaning, laundry, cooking etc......but I feel like a kid with a new toy. LOL! I guess "old dogs" can learn a few new tricks, it just takes us a little longer.
I was showing this thread to my hubby the other night.....scrolling along showing him some of everyone's beautiful photos. He showed polite interest and complimented many of the pics........until I reached those pics of you, Traceann. I scrolled through those pretty quickly and Steve said, "Whoa...go back, go back! Was that a nekkid lady?" Talk about LMAO!!! So I had to explain to him about tube tops (something he hasn't seen me wearing in a few decades since youth deserted me). LOL! Don't worry, Traceann, he really is quite harmless (6 yrs older than I am) and he paid you quite a compliment. As he said, he can still appreciate a beautiful woman.
As for the "worm feast", tequilla or no, I think I will decline joining in. YUCK! I think I still have an old food processor in the basement you all may have if it will make the worm prep easier.

About your Dogwood picture...I absolutely love it!!!!!!! I love the Dogwoods around here and wish they would stay in bloom year round. How I wish I could copy it, blow it up and put it in a frame. If my hubby (my puter guro) can figure out a way to do it, may I have your permission to do that?

While in Florida this winter, I had the privilege to meet and spend an afternoon with moderator ICN Kathi. What a treat that was! She's such a special person and meeting her was an honor. Just thought I'd share a picture taken of us that day. It's not a good photo.....but hubby hasn't yet downloaded all the ones he took that day with his camera, so this one will have to do.

Annie is your dogwood still blooming? Mine has bloomed, leaves have fallen off and now its nice and green. Not as pretty as the white blossoms however I'll take green over bare anyday! I've noticed that there are still lots of dogwoods in bloom in my neighborhood--not sure why mine bloomed so quickly.....

Oh Annie, I got laughing so hard and out loud - thank god I am the only one here at work at present or they'd think I am crazier than they already do!!! And thank hubby for the compliment, I am sure that would make my Jer snicker since he sees the everyday me, LMAO!!!!! Not quite so much makeup, etc.... Well shoot I had put a pic on last winter of me and my kitty in my lap while at the computer and well, Diana and I had a good laugh about my flowered jammy pants and UofM sweatshirt! LMAO!!!
And I must ask you, hubby and I have been looking at the new digital SLR's - hoping to get one this summer - YAY!! But anyway, I am torn between the Rebel or the Minolta (I have a regular Minolta SLR - so the lenses could interchange). But there are soooo many good points to both!! ARGH! How does hubby like his Rebel? I have read online reviews (all good) but would be nice to get the perspective from someone I know, ;) (and I totally agree, love your signature pic!!! It's fabulous!)
Ok, Diana - I don't even do well with tequila! Oh my, way back when, my first fiance and I were at a good friends house who'd gotten a bottle from Mexico... We were all sitting on barstools around the kitchen island taking turns taking drinks - right from the bottle, no shot glasses. And no lemons, so we had lemon juice in the plastic lemon to use.... I was fine until I stood up. It all hit me then. The ex had to pour me into my truck and drive my sorry butt home, (thank god he only lived about a 15 min walk down the beach). He opened the truck door - I fell out, hit the running board on the way down, lol. It was February, lots of snow etc. I came in the house, and promptly went right back out and the purging proceeded. The next day it felt like I'd drank gasoline - I couldn't speak from all the throwing up, ugh - HORRIBLE! I did give it another chance, years later when a friend kept buying shots for me and a girfriend - oh big mistake. Took me 3 hours to get home - normally it's an 8 minute drive. My ex-husband had to keep stopping so I could throw up. So, no can't imagine I do well with a worm - even besides the fact that it's a bug!!! LMAO!!!!
Oh Martha, that is absolutely adorable!!!! She looks so primped up and like a furry little princess!!! Princess Lily!, all bow....... ;)
MarthaB
04-26-2006, 01:15 PM
:) I'm with you Tracey, I only ever drank tequila once, NEVER again, I threw up for hours afterwards, I thought I was going to die on the spot, it happened a long time ago, but everytime someone mentiones tequila I get that sickly feeling again, LOL, aaarrrgggggggg, I cannot even look at a bottle of tequila!

Diana, yes, my dogwood is still blooming (lilacs and redbud, too). I am farther north so we tend to run 2-3 wks behind your area. The dafs, hyacinths and tulips are just about all gone by now, though. :( I wish they would bloom longer as they are so cheerful and enjoyable.
Martha, Lily is so precious...and so pretty in pink! Love the shade of her nail polish as it goes so well with her fur. Hmm.......come to think of it, my hair is about that same color. Maybe that would be a good color for me. Do you think Lily would mind if I copied her fashionable manicure? :lmao:
Tracey, so glad you had a good laugh about that story. It was sooooooooo funny when it happened! Typical male reaction.....just politely going along with all I was showing him with mundane comments of "umhmm" or "that's a nice shot" then one quick flash past your pics and ...BAM...."WHOA, go back, go back!"
Steve, too, was considering the Minolta. He seems to like the Rebel XT so far, though he is still getting familiar with all it's functions. He would have liked to have image stabilization but the Rebel doesn't have that. You should know he is VERY picky.....an engineer with the stereotypical engineer quirks. He over-analyzes everything---to the extreme!
Just as an example.......let's say I, without thinking, told him we needed a new electric can opener. First he would go to every store in the area that sells can openers and study every model he could find. Then he would pull out all the copies of Consumers' Reports from the past 20 yrs, go through each issue and find all reports on can openers. Then he would go online and go through every review of every brand and model he could find. He would compare all the data he gathered and then would start calling every person in North America who bought an electric can opener in the past 10 yrs to get their opinions. Six months would pass and he wouldn't even be getting close to a decision. In the meantime, however, I would have purchased one at the first sale I found and it would be well broken in by the time he noticed it. I learned never EVER to ask him what he thinks about certain products. LOL!
So a couple of months before Christmas he lets it slip that he really would like a new digital slr and he starts the agonizingly slow analysis process. Beginning of December I noticed he was studying 2 (the Minolta and the Rebel XT) very carefully and got him to say he thought they were going to come out at the top of his list. Then a flyer from a very good local camera store arrived with the newspaper. They had both on sale but the Rebel XT was a better buy and they had a really good deal on a package with the body, 2 lenses, a nice case and a gig flash card. Also, the store was offering a $100 gift certificate to their newly opened scrapbooking store with the purchase of the Rebel. Bingo! Decision made. I wanted that scrapbook supply gift certificate....so the Rebel XT it was! :D Ok, I did keep all receipts and made sure he could return the camera if it really wasn't what he wanted. I certainly surprised him with it Christmas Morning! It never occured to him I might buy one for him. He spent the next week analyzing and reading digital slr camera reviews and decided.....yep, that's the one he wanted. He's still really happy with it (and I got all kinds of neat scrapbooking stuff!).
Oh, and I just told him you wanted to know how he liked it.........BIG MISTAKE...I got a 20 minute lecture about digital cameras! :bonk: Told him there wasn't enough room on all these boards for all his comments so he boiled it down to: at least tell her to read the reviews at http://www.steves-digicams.com/ You've probably already done that...but he made me promise to mention it. I think maybe he is showing more genuine interest in what's going on here on the boards. Gee, I wonder why??? ;)

Very cool Annie, that is a site I have not found - you can bet I will be checking it out!! I swear our hubby's are the SAME person (his father is an engineer - at least I know where he gets it)!!! All I want is a new phone with some handsets and is expandable, we've been looking now since last OCTOBER!! He does the same thing, at least now he can laugh about it always saying - "honey, you know how I am about buying things, I have to shop around, and weigh all the decisions" UGH!! So in the meantime, our phone is so bad it misdials numbers and you can't read the caller id anymore!! LMAO!!!! I feel your pain...Me, I am a grab it and go, it's fine, it does the job, but oh noooooooooooooooo..... I also have to tell you, his mom sent us an email a few months back saying they signed up for a Consumer's Report subscription (I think online) and if there's anything we want to look up or get info on....Can you tell she lives with an engineer???? (Just yesterday Jeremy said to me he wants to go back to school to get his engineering degree....oy.)
I have to say the "antishake" is VERY appealing in the Minolta, I do think they are the only one that has it in the digital SLR's. But like you, the Rebel XT is an easier buy - thanks to the Dell account, lol. Of course Dell doesn't have Minoltas (I swear they used to though).... I get the cold sweats when HE starts researching - I know what I want, and WHEN I want it, lol. Not next year or the year after...
Oh yes, knowing Princess Lily, I do not think she'd mind at all sharing her manicure!! And I would listen to her advice, if she says 2 coats, then 2 coats it is!! ;)
P.S. I just went to the review site, and holy moly, it's the same site a friend of mine - also a shutterbug AND and engineer, lol - sent me some info on another camera a while back!! LMAO!!!!!!

Oh, Tracey, you have my most sincere sympathy! You do know there is no cure for "engineer's syndrome", don't you? No effective meds or treatments exist, either. And there is no ongoing research as the only ones with enough tenacity to do that kind of intense research are themselves engineers and they don't see the problem. :biglaugh: Woe are we who fall in love with one of this fraternity! I thought the symptoms might diminish when my hubby retired and got away from the everyday stimulation of that environment but, no, it only got worse. Now he has no outlet for his compulsion and has turned to using objects and projects in our home to fulfill his needs. We are trying to clean out and fix up our house to put it on the market. I had hoped we would be ready to sell by this summer. Now I know that isn't going to happen that quickly. You should see the project lists he has created! And everything that needs to be fixed has to be analyzed ad nauseum! Meanwhile, I am swamped with trying to clean out all the junk that has accumulated over the years so we can downsize! This move may never happen if I don't get mean and crack the ole whip!
I would highly recommend getting your hubby his own ONLINE subscription to Consumer's Report. It's the best thing that has happened to us in a long time. No more magazines to store....everything is now online. I love it! You see, Steve won't throw away a single back issue of Consumer's Report (he just might want to refer to them when researching, of course). We have battles over the old magazine stacks. He'd rather pack and move them and says he's not the problem.......it's my china collection that's causing the problem and I need to get rid of most of it! This may turn out to be outright war instead of a battle. :shake:
Oh well.........I'm off to find Lily's shade of pink polish for my manicure. I'll remember, 2 good coats to get it right!

It's such as sad affliction, isn't it guys? It's compulsive and they can't help themselves....Meanwhile, that leaves us loved ones to deal with the aftermath...LMAO!! Maybe I should do that, he'd probably like a subscription to that...
Trips to Home Depot can be a outright nightmare...we have to stand for what feels like HOURS looking at and pondering over whatever it may be we are there for (even light switches), then after all of that - he decides to WAIT!! ARGHHHHHHHH!!!! Just like the refigerator fiasco - I thought we were going to get one, had been reasearching (LOL) etc, find one I liked then - nah, we're gonna wait and see... WHAT????? Wait until the freezer doesn't freeze anymore??? Oh why oh why.... So, I have learned to jump on things quickly - if he gets in a mood to be a little impulsive (doesn't happen very often) I move fast - the moment may pass and I miss out - that's how I got the computer here at home, LOL. I had been doing NORMAL research, and he'd just gotten off 3rd shift (heh heh heh) so I saw my opportunity and I took it and then ran like hell so he couldn't take it back!! LMAO!!!!! And voile` !! Computer at home - if I hadn't, I'd still be waiting for one...and waiting and waiting... I blew it the other day, he was looking at the digital cameras right after he ordered some ink for our printer - and asked if there was anything else I wanted or needed etc. I teasingly said "ok, how about a nice Digital SLR??" He immediately started looking at them! I probably could have had one, he was in the "mood", lol. What the heck was I thinking!!!??

I haven't been around the boards toomuch lately so I've givenmysef the afternoon to catch up. I have been laughing myself silly over the'problems with Engineers' and I would like to add Town Planners tothe mix. Oh! how I can empathize with you both. With planners 'procrastination' is another trait I would like to add.
Before the hassles of the miriads of 'lists' that have to be made, comes the agonizing decision to even buy! So, you finally make the decision to make that purchase and then, after much research, which item to buy. Off to the store and you stand in front of the item and start the procedure all over again!..Arghhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I want to just pick it up and run...More oftenthan not we don't buy because we need 'to think about it some more'. And that's bad enought but on the way home...he says ' Damn we should have bought that you know'!
Best bet is to just but the item and know that he probably won't even notice! The worst thing I can do is invite his input...
Now for the Tequila and to worm or not to worm...I have never tried tequila but the thought of a worm in th bottle makes me pretty sure that I never will. Bundaberg rum however, to my undying shame...I have! With much the same result as you Tracey and I too made to mistake of giving it a second chance to embarrass and make me extremely ill. And while I wont go into the whole sorry story, it did involve forgetting to get dressed in the middle of the night and prowling the caravan park naked, looking for water.
I can't even stand the smell of the stuff anymore!

Oh, the Bundy rum, don't get me started, the smell makes me want to puke, aaaarrrggg, NO spirits for this chickie, besides the bladder doesn't like it!! Love the Banksia! What a lovely plant.
Mildred and Charles, a pair of Mallard ducks named for...let's just say an "eccentric" aunt & uncle of my hubby, have been hanging around our bird feeders since spring began. Last night we discovered they have moved into one of our daffodil beds and are beginning a family. There was one egg in the nest last night. This morning there are two. Mildred and Charles stepped out for a bite to eat, I guess, and I was able to snap a shot. I wonder how many ducklings there will be? We had a Mallard nest in another bed about 5 years ago and there were 12 eggs and 12 little fuzzy ducklings hatched. These ducks seem to be a young pair so there may not be too many younguns this time. We can't figure out why the ducks have chosen our yard. The nearest creek is a 1/2 mile away. Must be all the free food from our feeders. Ironic.....our nest is empty so Mildred and Charles must have figured they could just move right in and take over. A bit pushy, these birds.

I'm not sure if the Banksia is related to the bottlebrush, i'm sure Rosalie will know! Rosalie, no it's not a birthday candle, because the foliage is different, this is a pic of the Banksia '' birthday candles'' absolutely gorgeous, I found this pic on the web by the way, i'm not sure what my Banksia is called,

Everyones pictures are so pretty. The flowers are beautiful.
My daff's are done and my tulips on the end of there life span for this year. I get so flipping excited this time of year. I LOVE my gardens. My dad owns a road/sewer construction company and when digging comes across some amazing rocks, he brought one home for me the other day. It is HUGE and I have the perfect spot for it. I'm going to start a big, big, big garden at the end of our lawnway and make it run along the side of the laneway. What I want to do will take me a LONG time to do so thinking a little this year and a little next, kinda a work in progress garden. LOL, along with all the others. They just keep on getting bigger and bigger every year. Next week I will be able to finish my rose garden, planting 5 more this year and that will be finished... :woohoo: It is beside my "work in progress" herb garden.

Hey Jen , where's the camera when you need it! I can imagine a bit of a 'keystone cops' caper with you trying to catch the horse.
And Martha, that possum looks very guilty! was he moving towards or away from your roof?
Well I've returned from my wonderful weekend away with like-minded female friends. Our husbands/partners should have very burnt ears today!. Over an abundance of scotch/Ouzo/wine, we discussed ours and the worlds problems. I don't think anything was solved but we had a great time trying. It was rather cold so apart from sampling a few of the local restaurants we stayed indoors and enjoyed the company and the central heating. I am very impressed with the gorgeous beach house my brother and sister-in-law have acquired.
On Saturday afternoon we also went for a bit of a drive around the Bellarine Peninsular which lies south west of Melbourne towards the heads of Port Phillip Bay and here are a few shots.
These are some of the cute beach huts at Indented head. I stitched these pics . You can see with that the weather was changing rapidly by the far right section.

Looking accross the bay is my city of Melbourne. The weather was closing in and ten minutes later this view was oblitereted.

We watched the storm moveing accross the bay. To right of this picture you can see the wrectage of a paddle steamer. They plyed the bay in the 1800's and many were sunk as breakwaters.

Martha, your pet is quite photogenic..haha..have you given him/her a name? We have possums all over the neighborhood and in our backyard. I had posted a picture of the baby possum Meatball killed a few months back, on Flickr...lovely!..haha...Oh, and Martha, you dont have to have a stitch option on your camera to create a panarama. As long as your photo editing program has a stitch mode and you've taken the pictures correctly so they'll stitch properly (with a 50% overlap with each frame) then you should be able to create a stitched image, no problem....:)
Jen, isnt it funny, more than one Meatball in the world..Did you know that Adam Sandler's first bulldog was named Meatball? I had never heard the name before (figured that there werent too many 4 year olds out there naming animals like in our situation..haha). The pics of the daffs are great. Well worth the wait, Tracey. I have always loved the two-toned ones. I don't think I have ever seen one like the one in the 1st pic. Very interesting and, for me, very unusual. What type is it? :hmm:
traceann
05-10-2006, 09:33 AM
Oh shoot Sharon, of course you'd ask me that! LMAO!! I for the life of me cannot remember what variety that is, it's one of the doubles, like "Pink Cloud" or something, except mine are a peach color... Oh heck for all I can remember they may well be the "Pink Cloud or Rosey Cloud" LOL!! The bottom ones are the Salome' and start out with yellow cups that turn to peach, they are about halfway turned in that photo. Everyone still looks good - those were taken I think last week sometime.... I want to say middle ones are King Alfred(?) I have it written down somewhere (I think) in my garden notebook - I will have to take a peek!! ;)

Jen, sorry to hear about the ear infection...ouch! Maybe a kick to your husbands behind will get him in gear AND make your ear feel better. Get yourself to a DR, girl.
Tracey, I like the 2nd set of daffodils. I'm not going to put you through the "what kind of daffs are they" though..LOL..You know alot more than I do about flowers--if its not a piece of grass, a stick, or a rose I'm lost!...haha..

Tracey I think your 'host' of daffs are beautiful. Hubby planted some bullbs years and years ago. Reckoned they would one day multiply into our own 'host of daffodills'. Hahaha not to be...they flowered twice and then.......well then nothing!
It wasn't until we took down six trees on the block that anything started to grow and it isn't much better now as there are still acouple of very large trees that I am loath to bring down. If it wasn't for the aussie natives there wouldn't be anything in the garden.
I'n not so sure about coming back as a possum either! Hopefully there will be dragons around again when I come back...yep thats what I want to come back as...a dragon!

I do all of my photography using an oldschool camera..A Pentax K1000. If I remember, I get my pics develped onto disc also so that I can send them to family and friends. Here are a few..
The first picture is of my other niece Kyrsten. It was taken just this past Saturday. She was upset about something, and the look on her face was so cute. (I dont remember what had made her mad..it was short-lived :) ) Kyrsten is 18 months old.
The second one is of me and my newborn niece Lilliahana. It was taken March 05, just a few hours after she was born. (My hair is almost down to my shoulders now)

Ok girls, I remembered to check to see what the heck the name of the fluffy daffs were and they are called "Replete", the "Cloud" names I pulled out of my hat from some tulips I used to have that were double so they looked like peonys, lol.
I made the mistake of not paying attention to what tulips I planted, apparently they weren't "naturalizing" and they bloomed their first spring in the ground, and were never heard from again..LOL. Oh well, live and learn. I have read too that tulips aren't as long lasting - they need to be replanted with new, as the old "wear out", lol!!!!
Um yes, please explain the vacuum cleaner my dear.....
Kuntrygurl, I was going to say what Diana said - the best and easiest way to get them into your post is through Flickr or a site like it that "hosts" pictures. I think that's what we all use around here, that or Photobucket. I too am dying to see your shots!! ;)
SharonA

Thank you, Tracey. Curiosity satisfied. I will have to look for some Replete Bulbs for next planting time. I wish daffs would stay around a bit longer. They make me feel happy.
Okay...I will join in on the BIG QUESTION of the day, Martha. Why a vacuum cleaner??????? Come on, fess up. No need to be shy around us. :D I, like Diana can come up with some pretty good reasons on my own. Believe me, you don't want that to happen. :evilsmile :evilsmile :evilsmile

KuntryGurl, how old is your Pentax? I have a wonderful 40year old Pentax Spotmatic and I just love it. It has been a fantasic camera. Alas! It is pretty much impossible to get parts for it any more and the light meter has died. Earlier this year I bought off ebay a pentax MZ50 for my daughter who is studying photography.
I am looking forward to seeing some of your pictures. I also use Flickr and photobucket to upload pics. They are both very easy to use.

Im not sure how old my camera is. I bought it off Ebay. It is in really good shape. One of the supervisors on the other side of the plant where I work has cameras that often make me drool. I learned something from him the other night. I asked him why I often have great pics that turn out, out of focus.I was thinkin I needed to make a trip to the eye doc. He said I might have a slight shake in my hand. He said the newer cameras adjust for it, but old school ones like mine dont. Makes lots of sense! The hand that I hold my camera in..I broke it Nov 2004 and had surgery. I have some slight nerve damage in it. I have a tripod, but I also want to get a monopod. That way I can hopefully start getting better pics.
Im still trying to figure out how to deal with my pics on the computer. I usually have them develped at WalMart and get them on disc from them. Then I use their program to send the pics to family memebers. I havent found a way to alter the size of them. I need to sit down and take the time to do that. Time...ahhh..something i dream about!:hmm:
Rosalie
05-15-2006, 05:37 PM
Kuntrygurl, you may already know this little trick. When you're taking a pic tuck your elbows into your side and hold your breath while taking a shot. That will help some of the camera shake.
dg2901
05-15-2006, 08:27 PM
KG--if i'm not mistaken if you upload to Photobucket or Flickr the pictures will automatically size to the website's specifications.
Re: anti-shake; Most of the higher end lenses come with an anti-shake feature built in.
Rosalie's tip is a good trick of the trade for helping to reduce shake.
Adorama has some decent prices on monopods.

Glad to be of service Sharon!! :) They are one of my absolute favorites... I will have to post the pics of them from a few years ago, it was their best bloom ever, I am going to frame the shots and hang them up! LOL
Right now the new the Minolta digital SLR has anti-shake built right into the camera!! In my researching of cameras that's pretty appealing as it's the only one right now with it, the rest of the cameras depend on the anti-shake in the lens... decisions decisions!! LOL

Now don't get too excited about the Martha model Dyson! We claim patent rights. So you might have to import yours from good old Oz...I wonder if the dyson people will see it that way too?

Good one Rosalie!! LOL Well, this past weekend hubby and I went on a binge - a plant binge!! Saturday we bought I think 5 perennials plus a flat of more impatiens, and found a beautiful viburnum (sp??) that we must have. I decided it would be a wonderful 1 year anniversary present to ourselves...he's wanted on since last year, and I didn't care. Then I saw this one at the nursery - in full bloom and the smell of the flowers are amazing, kind of look like lilacs, but smell sweeter, oh just amazing! You basically were lead to the "tree" by your nose! It's about a 100 bucks, but it's a pretty mature tree and as a anniversary gift I think it's worth it. Something we can watch grow, etc. (mushy, I know, lol - but any EXCUSE to have this thing!!) So hopefully one of these weekends we can get it, I told hubby it's either that or he has to go gift shopping for me, lol, and to take his pick...heh heh heh.
Then Sunday we headed out to our favorite huge nursery, and bougth MORE plants, lol. We picked up 6-7 (maybe more, I am runnng on my memory here) more... It was a fun-filled plant-til-you-drop weekend, which we did literally. Poor hubby got home Saturday morning at 8ish, as he worked 3rd shift Friday night - and stayed up. We were outside from about 1- 7:30, went to dinner and when we got home he was toast. LOL So, I hope to get pictures, as I have said, have to get some batteries for the camera! My never-ending supply seems to have ended!! ARGH!!!!!

They have to go in NOW NOW NOW!! (that's him giving orders, lol)
Friday was so COLD outside I was bundled to the hilt, and miserable out there - nose running, oy!!:shake: Sunday was the same way, omg, cold, windy - not fun at all. Thank goodness big planting day was Saturday which was lovely outside. He just doesn't get it's not fun when I am freezing!

thanks tracey,
my cats although adorable but my male warner(bad boy) is a little stinker.
he thinks he owns the home and he is the boss. he eats anything he finds like rubber bands, paper .paper clips and also knocks over my trash can.
i am allergic so i don't let them in my bedroom so he bangs on my door at night. he drives me nuts. my female cat is not as bad but she started throwing up orange on my white carpet. i think i have that figured out now(the food). i would love to put a pic of badboy and callie on but don't remember how to do it. also i went to the humane shelter yesterday to donate the food she could not eat and fell in love with some kittens there.
they were soooooooooo cute. i really want a kitten but can't afford another one right now and all my medical probs too.

Why thank you D! :smile tee And work it's been, lol. We decided last night enough new plants for now, lol. Just going to maintain and enjoy - yeah right, he'll get bored and want something to plant so off the greenhouses we will go... LMAO! So far I have lots of lavender (love the stuff!), thyme, lemon balm, valerian, sage, tarragon, anise hyssop, feverfew. And in pots I have sweet basil, dill, parsely, nasturtiums, rosemary and summer savory. This is a bad year for the basil for me, not doing well at all - not like last years batch! :hmm:
Hey Cortenay, at one point I had a total of 6 kitties. LOL I had a few who were troublemakers to be sure! One loved to play with just about anything - I once caught him dragging my glasses down the hallway! He'd stolen them off the nightstand, and was attempting to run off with them. LOL He's also the one that beheaded the dozen roses I got from a guy once in highschool. Got up in the morning, all the heads were laying about...lol. One of them, my very first cat ever, we called Alley Cat (real name was Bandit) as he'd knock the garbage over all the time, to the point we had to put the bin under a cupboard to keep it out of his reach... Ah, but that's the stuff that makes them them right? LOL As for pics, I host mine at Flickr and then paste the url it generates there for you, in the post using the button that looks like a mountain on it.
Thanks Karma!! I love those flowers, now I know what to look for!! :woohoo: They are soooo cool looking... uh oh, feeling the need for more green things... not good, not good at all!!! LMAO!!!:D

Thanks Diana for your warm welcome back to the photo forum and supportive private messages. You are a sweetheart! :-)
Thought I'd tell everyone about my little doggie. He is a 5 month old shih tzu. I got him when he was 12 weeks old. We got him so my daughter would get over her fear of dogs and she really loves him. I've been taking him to puppy obediance classes and he is doing really well. I'm really proud of him.
Saturday he will "graduate" from his puppy class. I plan on continuing his training and trying to get his AKC good citizenship certificate and then maybe work on getting his therapy dog certification. I know i sound like a proud mom, don't i?

Congratulations on MuShu's upcoming graduation--:woohoo:
Its wonderful to hear that your daughter and little MuShu are getting along so well. How great it would be if little MuShu earned therapy dog certification! There are so many people in this world who could/would benefit from having the company of an animal for a few hours a day.
Keeping you in my thoughts.

Oh those are great Karma!!! I have one experimental Butterfly Bush in my yard this year, lol. Want to see if it makes it through the winter in my zone, it's a zone 5 and above and I am a zone 5... I hope it makes it, it looks like the one in your middle picture, that plummy reddish purple color - gorgeous! And I am happy to see I am getting a second blooming out of the little thing, it's just a few little twiggy looking things, lmao!! I hope it makes it to grow up big!!!

Well, I haven't been around the boards much of late, and I have missed so much!
Kittens, puppies, butterflies and so many beautiful flowers to catch up on. All your photographs are simply wonderful.
And Martha, how wonderful to see you are back too. Now I have to ask you about that picture of your backyard....were you sitting atop the fence when you took it ?:lmao: What a wonderful place to sit and relax.
Now I have a photographic or rather an editing problem, which I hope someone can answer.
http://static.flickr.com/66/195137094_97a1e0f12c.jpg
This is my son at his 21st birthday party on the 15th July. I can't get rid of the red eye. I was able to do so with all the other faces in the picture using the canon editing program but for some wierd reason it would only fix one of Campbells eyes...Hahahah I left both 'red' cause he looked even sillier with one brown and one red.
The program has the facility to use auto or manual adjustment but neither would fix the problem.
To adjust it in Photoshop(with my limited skills)I assume would mean altering the individual fixels. Can anybody offer me any suggestions?
dg2901
07-26-2006, 04:44 PM
Rosalie,
If a single click of the Red-Eye tool doesnt work, you can try dragging over the pupil with the Red-Eye tool.
If you have the option, try adjusting the two settings on the Red-Eye tool: Darken Amount and Pupil Size.
Happy editing!
Diana
traceann
07-27-2006, 05:47 AM
Yep I agree with D, one of my many programs has the auto red-eye fix, and sometimes it takes multiple clicks to get it to work. If I am in Photoshop, I enlarge as much as I can and use my airbrush paint tool to change the color. That's tricky though to get it look "human" - LMAO!!! I am still working on getting it down pat, but works rather well!! (happy to see you I was just thinking about you yesterday!!! ;) )
Rosalie

Ok D, I agree! But I was waiting for you to ask if she was going to have "shrimp on the barbie" lmao!! Jer and I want to put in a little pad of some sort (we are thinking flagstones) for the little cafe table and chairs we have in the garden.
Yep, I know it's hard to get them to look "right" when you are using the airbrush feature. What has worked for me (you've probably already done it though) is make sure the opacity is set low and the color a brown. That way I can keep at it until it gets to the opacity I want without going straight to total black out, lmao!!!! I gotta get working on some more photos...lol.

08-01-2006, 05:26 AM
Hey Tracey,
You could always refer to the good ol' Flintstone "eyes so black as frying pans" poem that Barney Rubble wrote, when your eye color correction doesnt go so well. :). Gimme a break OK--its 10:47am and I havent been to bed yet.:dizzy:
Rosalie, I tried with IPHOTO to correct the red-eye in Campbells picture (had forgotten about my IPHOTO program) and still could only correct CJ's left eye. I'm "tossed" as to why only one eye will correct. This is aggravating me just enough to where I'm going to figure this out eventually, one way or the other...:)
Martha, so what are we puttin' on the barbie? Shrimps on the barbie perhaps? I'll be sure to bring some XXXX, VB, and Fosters! Just keep the redneck wallaby's, wombats, quokka's and crocs away from your property while we're all there, please. Otherwise we'll have to invite "cousin Steve" to keep things in order.

08-01-2006, 02:40 PM
Tracey,
Just how can you forget about the Flintstones???? Funny I even thought of that--about a year ago when I was still trying to get a diagnosis a friend called me after one such Dr appts. I was so aggravated that there still was no answer for my bladder issues, then add to it this girl calling me just for her kicks, when she asked me "did you get an answer from the DR yet?", I quickly came back with "yeah. and whodda thunk that I'd end up with the Dinopeptic germ?? dont that beat all!". She being somewhat slow witted at times went on for close to 2 months believing that I was indeed afflicted with the dinopeptic germ..ahahaha..I even told her that my Dr suggested that I start seeing the veternarian next door to his office since this germ was generally seen in animals, usually prehistoric, moreso than in humans. What a maroon, i tell ya!..:biglaugh:
Sharon, I'm glad you thought about the PRELIEF, otherwise some of us might have suffered after partaking in the thirst quenching OZ beers.
Martha, I'm thinking that it will be around 3pm before we arrive. And add to that the bloody time difference it might even been closer to 5pm. Dont worry yourself about having to clean up anything--we'll be sure everything is spotless before leaving the party. Tracey told me that she likes to clean, so I'm taking her for her word that she'll be doing most of the clean-up.
I'm all for pavlova--how about everyone else?
:hi:

(psssst D, I finally got to them hunky Deen boy's show - loved it!!!)
Oh I love it, The Dinopeptic Germ, good grief that's hilarious and the bit about seeing the vet!! Oh my can't believe she'd fall for that, ugh, whodda thunk it... WIIIIIIIILLLLLLLMAAAAAAAAA!!!!! ;) Did you know that the Flinstone's were modeled after "The Honeymooners"? Another classic...lol

And, seeing as all you ladies are travelling so far, after sampling Martha's hospitality, we can continue the party at my place. Alas! the same applies to the room in my house but we have three tents and an outside fridge. And the kitchen will be open all hours!

Can we have a camp fire and toast marshmellows?
Rosalie...That's a great idea. The more I see of Oz, the better.
Oh my gosh...15 hours ahead. Let's see now...It is 9:15 am Thursday here in :elvis: ville. That makes it 12:15 am on Friday, there??? I had better get packing. :dizzy: I'm going to miss my plane. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:woohoo: Roasted Marshmellows...Yummy!!!! I can taste them already. I like the white ones. I am old fashioned.
I can't believe I can send and receive posts from this high up. Yep, I made it to the airport in time to catch my flight. Martha...will you be at the airport to pick me up or do I need to find my own way? I suppose if you are not there, then I can ask anyone in Brisbane, "Where does Martha live?" and they will be able to tell me right away...right? :lmao: :lmao:
Say...I love the pics of the plants. The first one looks like a Bleeding Heart to me. Is it? Also, what is the 3rd one? Never seen anything like it before. You guys sure do have some intersting plants.
Rosalie

Absolutely Martha! I'll come up early with my tents and set them up. I bags the blue one - it's really comfy.
Sharon if we skewer the marshmellows on twigs from the gum trees, we can have eucalyptus flavoured ones!:lmao:

Sharon, the first plant is not a bleeding heart, I'm not sure what it's called, this is a pic of a bleeding heart,

the second one is called a pentas, they come in a few different colours, and the third one is a grevillea, an australian native, they are beautiful and they have birdattracting flowers, they also come in different colours.

Wow, I am gone a couple days and look what I miss!! All the BBQ plans, etc. Sharon, did you arrive there safely???? LOL I see from your last post you were up in the air...
And Rosalie, you are welcome! I just wish I could have done a better job for you, but I saved the photo, so if I can get a bit of time, I will see what else I can come up with!:)
Whoa D!! That eye of his looks stunning, lol. Geesh. Now, at Ozzfest, does Ozzy (Ozzy Osbourne) make an appearance, or is it all other bands doing covers of his songs, etc? (kind of like a Woodstock? Just lots of bands together for the fun of it?)

Martha, Ozzfest is a gathering of a group of about 20 bands thats currently touring the US. Ozzy Ozbourne headlines, however since he's so old and decrepit :biglaugh: along with his wife being ill again, he's only touring with every other venue--of course, without fail that didnt include Va Beach, VA. Kenneth was a bit disappointed, though there were bands that he does enjoy so that kind of took away from the disappointment a bit.
Tracey, read above re: Ozzy..hahaha.....Kenneth's eye is quite black today. Seems he took someone's boot to the eye during a crowd surfing incident..:tsk: :shake: Thank goodness he came out of the mosh pit in one piece..:loco:

Thanks for the explanation Diana, it's quite scary in a moshpit, I remember my daughter being in one, some kids had to be taken to hospital because of injuries.
I'm glad he only suffered a black eye, it could have been worse.

Oh, man! Ozzfest! I went there a few years ago! Walked out of there looking like Ozzy himself - old & decrepit - but that was not because I took a boot to the head! It was just a very long & hot day! People can really kick hard when they're crowd surfing! I don't get anywhere near the mosh pit's at those kind of concerts, but sometimes they just break out right next to you & you're caught up in it! I can't stand it! I mean, there's a reason that I'm in the very back section, you know?

LOL, thanks for the definition D, lol. ;) And Sharon, I am surprised then that I have crossed your path as I seem to be up there all the time as well!!!! I will keep my eyes open for you!
Ah Karma it does remind me of the good old days, going to concerts in open-air arenas, etc. My favorite one was over in Charlevoix on the west side of MI, called "The Castle". It was a big stone open air arena, that looked like a castle. Only, it really wasn't that big, so no matter where you were, it wasn't too bad. And I always managed to sneak up to the good seats, flirting and lady-in-distress always worked well with the security, lol. Coulda went back stage with Def Leppard if my girlfriend had taken one for the team and flashed them, cause they were asking, lol. She was a double G at the time and I know they would have said, come on down! LOL Oh that reminds me of a concert there that we were so, um, "inebriated" before we even got into the concert (we'd get there very early and tailgate in the field that was the parking lot), that cotton mouth had settled in and no regular beverages to be found - so we were drinking cooler water. Not the cleanest either....but when you are desperate... Yes, yes, I learned my lesson. Whoa, Loverboy is on Regis and Kelly and I do believe that's who's concert I was at for that episode.....
Ah the good old days.... ;)

Many, many, many (did I mention that is was many?) years ago, I went to an open air concert where a bunch of people were playing. Dr. John was one of them. (You probably don't remember him. Remember I said it was many years ago?) It was an all day thing, sitting in the blazing sun (what was I thinking?) and rocking out. It was a lot of fun and, yes there was some herbal fun thrown in. You could smell it in the air all over the football field. Anyway, while my cousin was off walking around to see what and who he could find, I stayed on my bench just enjoying the music. This weird looking guy came up and stood in front of me at ground level and, get this, flashed me with a very unimpressive body part. It was so funny to me that I just broke out in a roll of laughter. His eyes just about popped out of their sockets and he had a shocked look on his face when he noticed I was laughing at him. He covered himself and walked away looking so disappointed. I ruined his day. It was sooooo funny. :biglaugh:

Sharon, that house is beautiful, inside and out. Its been on the market for several months now; the husband and I went yesterday to check it out since i've been wanting a look-see for sooooo long. Well, we got a look-see allright, not only at the house itself, but also the asking price!-$869,900 :help: :hmm: :loco: ......The house on the opposite corner is very similar to the one pictured and is also for sale. We were scared to go look at that one for fear we physically couldnt take the shock value...:biglaugh: Maybe next weekend once we've regrouped!..haha

PS--I'm with you on the lottery, would be so nice to win enough just to pay off all of the bills and have a little left over for a dream vacation...Speaking of the lottery, our neighbor who lives 6 houses down, who happens to be a retired family physician (of course, right!!!?), won a cool 'million' on a scratch ticket two months ago. After taxes he was given a check for $840,000. Damn! that would have made a nice down payment on that house, AND would have sent me on my dream vacation!...oh well...

About the doctor winning the lottery, oh shucks! Why couldn't it have been you!! Then you could buy that house and invite us all for a visit! :-)

Hey Janie,
I'm guessing the Dr needed the money more than I did/do.. ..ya think?..He and his wife play religiously, buying, if I remember correctly, 8 tickets per day. I would think the odds of winning increase drastically with purchasing that many. I'd be even more broke that I am now if I spent that much per week on lottery tickets--I'd have to win a lottery to help me with the cost of the tickets..:biglaugh: ...There was another local guy in the paper just this past week who played Pick 4 in the morning, won $1200; he went that afternoon to claim his winnings and put $32 back into the lottery for the evening Pick 4 drawing, playing the same numbers as he did that morning. Can you believe that he won again that night???? Between his exact match tickets, and the any order tickets his total winnings for the evening came to $152,000! This was a young working class guy in his mid to late 20's.
Oh! and guaranteed, if I win the lottery I'd most definitely bring you, along with some others on here to the kick-butt party i'd be having on the back lawn of my new home!...:woohoo:
Til next time....

D, who's still po' in VA

ARGH! Isn't that way it always goes...we poor people can't afford to play the lottery, lmao! That's funny... and ironic! My hubby usually buys 5 bucks worth of lottery tickets every week, says he's "planning for our future", yeah, ok dear.... Quite a few years ago, my mom worked at a convenience store. I was home and had taken a nap, and dreamt some numbers. I thought I should call mom and her play them for me, then thought nah, forget it. If I had I would have won like 1800 bucks. Not a lot really, but a lot to me!! DUH! I learned my lesson - you dream numbers, you play them!!! LMAO!!!!
Thanks D! That's one of my faves too, only the color really doesn't show up in a picture, drag. It's more of a deep purply-pink color, really pretty, it looks so light in the picture. So far one of my favorites (and of course I don't have pics yet, yeesh) is called "Harvest Moon" It's kind of like the "Sunrise", a yellow coneflower, but the tips of the petals are more of an orangey-yellow. Really pretty. I can't even tell you how many coneflower plants we have this year, let alone all the varieties, yikes. Will be nice next year as they should all be established and bloom at the same time, lol. This year it seems to be one at a time, since they were nursery plants....

I haven't posted much in a while but Ihave been popping in occassionally for a look see.
Last sunday we visited (yet again) the college that my daughter Hilary wants to attend next year. She wants to study Photography at the Victorian College of the Arts. It is the Arts precinct in Melbourne. After finally remembering to take the camera out with me. I still only got a shot of the back of the college hahahaha!
http://static.flickr.com/58/220454891_d6675a66e7.jpg
Turn around and there is the Australian Centre for Contempory Arts. A most unusual building!. I've used the stitch facility on the new camera for this but I think I got a bit carried away with the number of shots I stitched together, hence the curve in the picture.
http://static.flickr.com/95/220454887_afb0f81a42.jpg
Out the front of the ACCA is a famous sculpture called 'Vault'.. also known around Melbourne as the "Yellow Peril"

Turn in another direction and her is a view of the south side of the city of Melbourne.

Re: the curve in your picture; this is probably the result of not zooming completely in to what you were shooting. If the wide angle setting was in use this will infact cause the "curved" look of your picture by warping the edges of each image, much like how a fish-eye lens distorts a picture.
Hope this helped a bit.

Hahaha.. now I'm on a roll! Speaking of Hilary's hope to attend the VCA, here are a few of her photos taken of the doll's house. She recently saw a documentory onn a photographer who had used a similar set up in a sequence of photos.
So... we had to drag the doll's house down out of the roof.... mind you we also had alot of fun playing with the set up, each little piece bringing back memories for us both.

Looks like I need to get snapping again, haven't done any lately. Should get out and at least get some more shots of the flowers....
