Ok, so they sent me home with about 6 prescriptions after my scope, but they did not say whether to take all of them or not. I saw the Atarax and Elavil had 6 refills so figured I needed to be on those. Well i can tolerate Atarax but definitly not Elavil. Maybe because I am already on Effexor 75 mg. So I used Pyridium to help with the pain after, but I didn't need hydrocodone. However I noticed they only gave me about 2 weeks worth of Levsin, aka Hyoscamine. I was thinking I had taken this but I confused it with Pyridium. I still have a little urethral discomfort after urinating. It's so hard to describe, almost like an uncomfortable tingling. Anyone think Levsin would help with this? I have a call into my doctor about it. Cause as of today I am only on Atarax and am pretty sure I will need a cocktail of meds to balance me out, not just one. I know it is an antispasmodic, but didn't know if it would help with the discomfort after going.

Hyoscyamine is a smoothi muscle antispasmodic so if you're having bladder spasms, it could very well help. It may take a day or two to have any effect, however.
I can't tolerate elavil either.

Hi Dawn, I was rx'd Levsin S/L for bad spasms I was having. These were spasms like I had never felt before...my whole urethral/vaginal/rectal area was actually spasming uncontrollably every few seconds!!! When I took the hyoscyamine it immediately helped. I also have alot of internal pain that I think is difficult to determine if things in there are actually spasming...I sometimes will take a hyoscyamine if in doubt, and at times it HAS HELPED!
Hopefully your doc can help you with your meds today. There is so much to learn with all these meds!! I am on quite a "cocktail" too, but have done alot of research on each new med. It helps to KNOW what you're doing in treating this! You can also "search" meds by name on this site...I have found that very helpful when looking for info on specific meds.

Thanks Chrissy Sunshine! This may sound weird, but how do you know you are having a spasm? My urethral area just feels weird after I go to the bathroom. Like when I stand up it's like something settles down there. It's such a weird tingling feeling. I guess that might be a spasm. Anyone else have that feeling???
