Hi girls, just wanted to let everyone know that thank god I read the fine print in my consent forms and knew this could happen, but it is still unreal. I have nerve damage on the top right thigh from retractors. It feels totally like I have freshly been injected with lidocaine. I can feel no touch there, I dropped a hot boiling potatoe on it and blistered my leg and had no clue I was hurt. My gyn said this is normal for a few weeks but thinks mine is premanent. I can't be mad at her because I read it plain as day and knew it could happen. I was told it could happen as well. i am not angry or mad at them for this, I knew it and my hysterectomy was a pretty much have to be done thing.
I just wanted everyone to know that this is in the fine print and if it isn't it is a possibilty.

What type of hysterectomy did you have? I am looking at having a laproscopic hysterectomy. I will definately bring this up with my doctor when I talk with him. Did you have it done through the vagina, laproscopically or the abdominal insision?

I had a TVH/A&P repairs done 3 years ago. For 4+ months after the procedure I had an area on my left thigh that was numb; it kind of felt as if there was something wet laying against my leg--very annoying to say the least. Even now I still occasionally get that feeling......Maybe/hopefully this is just a temporary problem for you. I'm not sure how far post-op you are, however if youre early on you'll (possibly/probably) suffer from all sorts of strange feelings.
Good luck and speedy healing to you

So sorry! I hope this isn't permanent! Thanks for letting everyone know that this could happen. I was never told.
