Low Acid Coffee

Hi All,

I am trying to verify the name of a coffee that I saw someplace online that someone wrote and said they could drink it because it was low acid and that found it at Big Lots. I am thinking it was spelled something like this "Melitia" but I am not for sure. So I am trying to find out if that is the way to spell it. Also, if anyone out there who drinks coffee has any other names of coffee that are low acid, please let me know.

Hi Kim-I tried ONCE (only cause I can't find it again) Melitta Light Coffee....it has 50% less acid.
Kava is an instant coffee type of drink that I really like (well, in the absence of having REAL COFFEE anyway...LOL). It has 90% less acid than regular coffee. I take 2 prelief with a small cup in the morning. The ONLY place I have found this is at a Super Wal-Mart store. I was even disappointed cause they ran out...for several weeks I looked at an empty shelf where the Kava should be....Then last week I went and THERE IT WAS...ALL STOCKED UP AGAIN!!
I can only find Kava at this one particular Super Wal-Mart, I went to other Wal-Marts and could never find the Kava. I also have never seen again the Melitta Light coffee. Geuss there's not a real big market (yet, anyway!) for the low acid coffees.

You can get low acid coffee from the ICN Shop (link above). Kava is a good one to try to see if you can tolerate it. I find Kava in most of the stores around here.

I really like the Puroast decaf house blend coffee, available at the ICN store, like Donna mentioned. I make it in the Toddy Maker, also available in the ICN shop, which reduces the acid even more.

I did not do well with Kava & neither did my mom (who also has IC), probably because though it is acid reduced, it still has caffeine.

Kadi, what is a Toddy Maker?

It's a special coffee maker. (Makes a cold coffee concentrate overnight that you can keep in the fridge & add to hot milk or water.) It reduces the acid in your coffee. Since I use low acid coffee to start with, this makes it even lower in acid. I mix it with hot milk in the morning or with ice cream & milk for a coffee milkshake. Mmm.
