I have just been dx with Celiac Disease. ( from what I know of it - its allergic reactions to wheat, barley, rye, and there are a lot of foods that have these ingredients) Took my doctors almost 2 months to figure this out. First I started to have sharp pains, then I had diarrhea plus I lost almost 10 pounds, (probably more) My PCP sent me to a GI doc who did more blood/stool test --one of the blood test was for Celiac and found this. From what I found out its hereity, but, no one in my immediate family seems to have it. I go in for a biopsy on the 28th of this month to see for sure.

mary124, I also have celiac Disease. Although your diet will be restricted of foods that you are use to eating, you will still be able to have similar meals with rice and corn substitues (like rice or corn noodles, breads, cookies, crackers, etc.). The health food stores have many product lines that are very tasty, and I will be glad to send you some recipes if you want to bake for yourself which can be less expensive. Feel free to contact me through email (smcdanie@twcny.rr.com). mcdanie
