Wasn't sure where to post this, so I'll probably put it in a couple areas. I am taking Elmiron, Atarax, Flomax, and Lorcet (for pain). I started the Elmiron in December 05 and the others in February when I started seeing a uro. The last month or so, my face has been breaking out...okay, it's the last thing I need right? My whole life, I've never had a lot of breakout. I'm 31 now, and it's worse than it's ever been. Mostly around my nose/ cheeks. I know this is vain, but does anyone else have this problem? If so, any suggestions? I was using Proactiv before the breakout frenzy and I love it. I hate to go on yet another medication. Help!!

I have been on Elmiron since Dec & my face has been breaking out in this awful RED (!!!!) rash ever since...at first a thought it was from using tissue with lotion but it's gotten so bad that today it's starting to look swollen (on top of the fact it's my face and about 50 people have commented on it) it's very itchy and dry as well as bumpy (looks sort of like acne but I have never had that and I'm 35) = magic!
do you think it's because Elmiron builds up in your system to help the bladder lining?
:bonk:
anyone have a suggestion on what I can put on my face to reduce the rednesss - I am scared to try stuff in case it makes it worse!

I also got some acne shortly after started Elmiron. Then I realized that it was the white chocolate I was eating!! I stopped eating white chocolate and no more acne.
White chocolate has waaaay more fat than regualr dark or brown chocolate.
See if that may be the cause. It was in my case.

Topcop, I remember one person claiming that she thought the Elmiron made her hair very oily. But It looks like that, and skin breakouts, are not that common on it. (I am not on it.)

It's not 'acne', it's wicked itchy and red and now spreading up my face towards my eyes - anybody ever had a bacterial infection that would create this? I have tried several topical creams, steroid lotion, anti-bacterial cream, Aveeno anti-itch lotion but it just keeps going! It's driving me crazy and the dermatologist can see me JUNE 20th! ACK! I look like I have a red goatee and spreading - :help:
Been a haunt on the phone to my PC Doc - but so far not having a solution
Suggestions????????
thanks!!!

It sounds like you might have Rosacea, which is a form of acne. It's caused by small bumps (pimples) that are inflammed, causing the face to look "flushed". It can cause skin irritation, burning, etc
Depending on how severe it is you might need antibiotics or Accutane.
At the moment you shouldn't use any harsh products on the area such as alcohol (in toners), drying lotions or face maskes and scrubs. Use a gentle face cleanser like Cetaphil or a cleansing milk, rinse and pat dry.
