So I posted last week that I had been feeling very good on the Elmiron, elavil and vesacare. I felt great for about two weeks and now last week started not to feel good again. The urgency feeling is back. I started to feel much better right after I started the Elavil. Could it be that I need a higher dose? My physical therapist said it could have been caused by me doing leg weights and irritating it. Any thoughts?

Did you eat anything recently that your bladder may not have liked?? Is it possible you have a UTI? I do know that sometimes our bladders do not like exercise and that definitely can aggrivate them! :) I would take it easy, watch what you eat and see what happens, it could just be a passing flare, and you'll be feeling right as rain in no time! ;)

I found that even in the first several months on Elmiron (and my other meds) that I would still flare from time to time. Sometimes it seemed out of the blue, sometimes related to stress, sometimes to a UTI, sometimes to something I ate, etc. After a time I found that the flares got further and further apart and lessened in intensity.

http://www.ic-network.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11535 This is newbie kit from the oldies to the newbies There is a list of flare causes in there....some are more mild some are big but put enough small ones together :( Over doing it physically is certainly one possible flare trigger. What your physical therapist said is right. The musscles of the leg can greatly effect the muscle of pelvis which can definaly impact your bladder. If that is the cause of a flare take a bath and alternate cold and heat at your pelvis...if you relax those muscles it can help.
Hope you feel better soon!
