its me again... question for you all. i have a new uro, and he is awesome!!! i am having another cysto and instill done on the 24th. i need to know if it hurts. the last one i got done i was put out for. this one i will be awake... will it hurt at all? im just a little bit scared about that... --heather

While it might be a bit uncomfortable, it shouldnt "hurt".

When I have a cysto, I find it really helps if I can totally relax. It will hurt, but if you can manage to stay relaxed it's not bad --- and it only lasts a very few minutes.

Why are you having a second one done if you just had one done? I had two done. The first was a quick cysto in the office. It only lasted 5 minutes but it was excruciating. The second was a cysto plus a hydrodistention where I was put under general anesthesia and didn't feel a thing until afterwards, when they gave me pain meds anyway. If you are just talking about the uro doing an instillation, that process does not hurt unless your urethra is particularly sensitive and they didn't put any lidocaine on it, or give the lido time to work. So I guess I'm not sure which procedure you are referring to....

I had a cysto done about 2 yrs ago, the dx 3 months ago because the uro that did the cysto the first time didnt believe in ic, co she didnt dx me with it.
