for most of my life i had reacurring canker Sores...maybe fourish times a year. But lately I have been getting them almost tiwce a month it seems. They take about two weeks to go away, which means i have some all the time. Well a few days ago i got two canker sores on the top lip area, never had this before, my lip is swollened in that area which also never happened before. I brought Anbesol, and asked the local pharmacist about reacurring cankers sores. she showed me Extra Strength Acidophilus, she said that i might not have enought bacteria in my intestinal system. have any of you tired Acidophilus, did it cause a flare of any kind? I asked the pharmacist and she said no, but you do think?
thanks, Kiyoka

Many of us can take acidophilus without a problem. You are definitely experiencing some issue with your immune system if you have recurring canker sores, so taking acidophilus or other immunity-building supplements can help reduce the number of flare-ups. Check with your doctor or a naturopath for specific supplements that are IC-friendly. There may also be some dietary changes that can help.
Also, it's really important to try to reduce stress in your life by doing something that will relax you and help promote wellness. Even doing 10-15 minutes of meditation or a similar activity will help you a lot in the long run. I get ulcers inside my mouth every now and then and usually it's stress-related. I get them much less frequently (and they are less severe) now that I'm doing yoga and other holistic wellness treatments.
Hope you start feeling better soon!
