i have finally found out why i have'nt been able to eat the last 5 weeks and been so lethargic . i have too much calcium in my blood and possible hyperparathyroidism which is over active parathyroid gland. anyone else diagnosed with either of these. the hyperparathyroid diagnoses is pending another blood test. i assume this is a another autoimmune disease .i just found this out yesterday at 5 pm so i don't really know much about it yet but was curious if anyone else experienced this. thanks

Courtney,
I have hyperparathyroidism and hypercalcemia that has resulted in multiple kidney stones.

I had hypercalcemia briefly when I was taking too many calcium pills per day in an effort to make my bladder feel better. When I stopped taking so much calcium my hypercalcemia went away.

thanks lori, i don't take extra but hope it goes away on its own since its only slightly elevated. i took a second bloot test to confirm the results. then i am being referred to an endocronologist.

:grouphug: Courtney,
They told me I had to have my parathyroid glands removed. I have so much else going on right now with a tumor in a kidney, a cystocele, the IC, the stones, and a recent blood clot that I haven't had that done. If you would like to talk some more, please PM me and I'd be glad to chat with you. I also don't take supplemental calcium and the doc who dxed this thinks it is part of the whole autoimmune thing.
Hugs,

Hi, I had hyperparathyroidism for several years which gradually became worse. One of my parathyroid glands was overactive & taking too much calcium from my bones. There are four tiny parathyroid glands situated just behind the thyroid gland in our necks. I had the overactive gland removed a couple of years ago; the only treatment for this condition is surgery.
After the operation I had to take calcium tablets until the three remaining parathyroid glands became active again - they'd stopped working effectively because of the one being overactive. It took about six months for my calcium & parathyroid hormone levels to return to normal, & I've had no problems since.
Hope this helps.
