I was recently diagnosed with IC and want to apply for dissability and want to know how do i start the process?
Here is the cautch i will be graduating from college in May (online classes saved my life) and have never actually worked a full time job. Now that i am unable to look for work because of my medical condition will i still be able to get dissability? I havn't worked sence 2004 because i stopped working when i got pregnant b/c i couldn't juggle work, school, and planning a wedding....
if anyone can help me please help away!!!!

It does not hurt to try. Although you do have to have enough calendars paid in to qualify though. If your income is low enough you might be able to get SSI (Social Security Suplemental Income), this I think is for those with diabilites but do not have enough $$ paid in. Bad thing with this is your spouse is taken into account.
You can go to www.ssa.gov and start you app on line. Or you can go to your local SS dept or phone them. It can take awhile from start to finish. I started my app in Nov 2003 and finally got my first check in Feb 2005. Most are turned down the first go around so dont be to surprise if this happens. Good luck

You are welcome and it is important to have a doctor in your corner. My uro would not help me, but my ob/gyn who had been with me from the beginning of this wrote a letter on my behalf, so thank god for him... :)

If you are under 22, or became disabled under age 22, you may also be able to receive disability benefits under one of your parent's records, (if they receive disability or retirement through us...if not, then you might be able to receive a benefit on their record when/if they do file for disability or retirement.)
Good luck, and if you have any questions about Social Security Disability or SSI benefits, feel free to ask!
