Ambien?

Does anyone know if Ambien can increase ic symptoms or cause a flare? I have been taking it occasionally for about 2 years for sleep problems and I forgot to mention to uro that I take it.

I have never taken ambien, but I do know that some people with IC do take it.

I took Ambien when I was having some of my worst symtoms and was in the process of getting a diagnosis. I told my primary doctor I needed something to help me make it through the nights with so little sleep and he said TAKE IT. I think I developed a dependence on it though and I noticed I had tingling feelings in my hands that bothered me. It's possible I slept in one position for too long which contributed to that. I stopped taking it because that scared me and it took me about 3 nights to adjust to getting to sleep without it. After diagnosed my urogyn prescribed Elavil and I'd say it's helping me as much as the Ambien AND helps with pain and urgency too.

Hi,

I used Ambien a lot in 2003 and 2004 and it definately helped with me being able to sleep throughout the night without having to get up to go to the bathroom.

I didn't develop any dependence from taking it an extended period of time.

Thanks for the info. I am not worried about dependancy as I have been taking it for a couple years and have never taken every night. I only take it occasionally when I really feel I will not fall asleep. I was more worried about flare effects.
