Hi Lovelies!

I have some new meds to try out. Anyone have any experience good or bad?

I have a low dose of Zyprexa (mood stabalizer) to try along with a tricyclic.

I filled the Pamelor to try first, if not I have trial prescriptions for Norpramin and Tofranil.

Has anyone tried the any of these and know which one has less side effects? And/or helps directly with IC pain and sleep?

ONE more question...since the ELAVIL really messed up my heart rythms and cause palpitations for 2 weeks after stopping it, will I likely I have the same reaction w/ the other trycyclics?? I'm searching the web on this topic but have found nothing! :( I'm a little afraid after the Elavil fiasco! I was falling down stairs and running into walls at 10 mg. :headbang:

Any input greatly appreciated!

I have tolerated Pamelor well in the past, but not high amounts (probably you would not either is you need mood stabilizers). I found Pamelor less sedating that sinequan (another tricyclic).

I have tried zyprexa. Found it sedating, and it gave me a big appetite. It appeared to eliminate my TMJ headaches. My sister said it gave me bad breath, but who knows if that was the case. It could have been other factors.

I am not on it now.

I used that years ago..Oh my Goddess, that stuff made me feel brain dead! I just decided to not take it one day and was sick for a week. It was the strongest anti depresant I ever tried. I don't use any anti depresants now. I am told ."if I am depressed I have reason to be and don't need my feelings medicated"...That worked for me. While, admitedly some will need anti depresants with IC, I would try not to use them because the weight gain.. 20 pounds made me feel much worse! It took a year to get the weight off from that stuff, and the side effcts were something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Please read the PDR before you take it..Just a thought. I haven't been in here for a while, so if this is old, sorry. ljl765

I am taking pamelor now. It is lot better for me than elvail. It is helping me sleep but does not help me so much with the pain though. I am only on 20mg of it because the higher dosage mess me up a little bit.

Kara,
I tried Pamelor. I had had problems with another tricyclic (Elavil) and on a low dose of Pamelor there was no problem, but as I went up, the side effects (retention) I couldn't handle it and had to stop.
