I was just wondering what are some typical meds in rescue instillations. I'm going to see my uro for a check-up next week and plan to ask if he does them. Usually I feel well enough, but when my stress level goes up, I flare and I can't always do things to relax myself and my bladder. Right now I'm flaring and was thinking maybe a rescue instillation might work. I did DMSO about a year and a half ago and it didn't help at all. It mostly made things worse, I think.

Anyway, I was just wondering.

Stacey - my uro uses heparin, lidocaine and sodium bicarb. I've asked for marcaine (which is supposed to last longer) but was told no. I've read where some uros use an antibiotic as well. There's many combinations it's like a witch's brew! LOL

I've heard of using heparin and lidocaine before, but not the sodium bicarb. What does it do for IC? My hubby takes sodium bicarb pills to prevent kidney stones. He just started taking them, actually. He has uric acid kidney stones and the sodium bicarb is supposed to help prevent them.
