My name is Suezan,
I have had IC ever since I can remember. It has gotten worse at times, through pregnancies, and sometimes even gone into remission for months before another flare.
I never was DX until about 3 years ago..
I was having these flares of extream pelvic pain.. that required being hospitalized.. they though maybe stones or endometriosis..
I ended up having a total hysterectomy and the surgeon said, "hey, while we are at it.. we might as well do a bladder lift and take care of the leaking"
sounded good to me..
Little did I know, that it was opening a BIG can of worms!
My Bladder has never been the same since!
My IC I believe was the cause of the original pelvic pain, and surgery just made it worse!
like 20X worse..
Long story short.. I had a cystoscopy and it revealed a DX of IC..
Treatment followed.. Elmiron and Macrobid.
I also have FMS/MFS Acid Reflux High BP Stroke and the list grows longer all the time..
I'm glad to be here.. and hope to meet everyone..
Support is the best medicine when there is no cure..

:welcome: to the ICN. It upsets me that you are another case where someone had an un needed hysterectomy to fix something...when in actually they made the real problem worse. Your not alone being multi diseased around here. My list is in my signature. So glad you found us :) :) I gave you some links on treatments. There are options! ((hugs)) Sounds like you may be having some Pelvic Floor Dyfunction (PFD)too (assuming they wanted to do a bladder lift because your bladder truly was fallen) Even so pfd is very common around here and treating it can sometimes help with symptoms. Let me know if I can ever help you with anything. :grouphug:

Hi Suezan and welcome to ICN!

It sounds like you've been through so much! I've read many times here where a surgery just smooth tore the lid off that IC can of worms you spoke about. My GYN suggested a hysterectomy for me last year and I said thanks but no thanks! -It scares me to death to do anything that might make my bladder angry!

You're absolutely right, support is the best medicine when there is no cure. (That phrase should be at the top of the forum page!) And this is a wonderful site to find that support at!

Welcome!
Vicki
