In a way it's a relief because for the past 6 months I've been so stressed trying to figure out what was wrong with me! At the same time i'm a little depressed about the news since I really like to live life. Alcohol is a big irritant for me which is a bummer because i love trying wine and different beers. I just bought Prelief and I'm going to give that a whirl. Right now i'm having pain and I don't know why. Just had a scope done 4 days ago so maybe it's that. Anyway, if anyone has any advice for flare ups (pain relief, etc), let me know. Nice to meet everyone. :)

a quick question to go along with my introduction. :) does anyone experience muscle flinching / twitching? i looked up the possible causes online and the thing that stuck out to me was too much estrogen. my muscles flinch on their own all day long (every so often...not constantly). the doctors are unsure why this is happening. again, i was recently diagnosed with IC (as well as a small spot of endometriosis). i also have GERD / high acid in stomach, IBS, and ADD! yippee! :)

Are you anxious? I know that when I get anxious, I notice muscle twitches more than when I'm in my normal state (which is still anxious, just less!)
I think some medications can also cause (or at least exacerbate) that. I'm on Wellbutrin, and it makes me more twitchy. Happier, but twitchier!
I was in pain for at least a few days after my cysto, so I would think that's normal.
Good luck with treatments!

thanks for the reply! i am only on BC and Prilosec so the twitching isn't caused by meds. could be anxiety. hmmm...i'll have to see if i get them when relaxed. :)

I'm glad you found the IC Network. I know you'll find a lot of support and information here. The Patient Handbook (link at the top of this page) will help you learn more about IC and treatment options. You'll also find the diet there, which can be very helpful.
Sending welcoming hugs,
Donna

Thanks Donna! I've been reading the handbook since last night (i did sleep of course, but woke up and started reading again. Hehe). I did notice that there are a list of "must have" symptoms in order to be diagnosed with IC. I only have a couple of those. I will have to see what happens over the next several months. Luckily my doctors are great. I've had pain for 6 months now and they've already done a scope and a lap. I have only had 2 UTIs my entire life so it seems strange that I've "developed" this. Time will tell I guess! Thanks so much for the support! :)

Hi there! Welcome to the ICN. I'm glad you found us. This is great place for support and encouragement. There are a lot of nice, caring people who can help you when you are feeling down.
I think it is normal to feel some pain a few days after the scope. However, it is also possible to develop an infection. Often times, the doctor will send you home on 1 or 2 pills of antibiotics as a preventative. So, if the pain gets worse or doesn't subside, I would explore the possibility of an infection following the scope procedure with your doctor. I'd hate for you to be in any kind pain for longer than you need to be.
I hope you are able to find relief soon.
Take care,
Jennifer
